I truly miss those days, when families actually wanted to be with their families for the holidays or any days for that fact,I know nothing is truly simple in any day,but compare to today, things were more simple back then,_you know what I mean
Brings back memories of Sundays spent at the grandparents with the whole family. Eating then watching Disney on TV. If the house was small didn’t matter. You could fit 50 people in anywhere.
What a beautiful recording you have of times and people long gone! I would have been 15 and remember those gatherings so well. The older lady with the silver hair is so very much like a favorite aunt of mine. Our minds are our vaults of treasure.
What fascinates me about 1963 Christmas home movies (and I have some too, thank God) is that one month prior, we lost President Kennedy and the nation grieved, Yet, we put our lives and sense of faith and normalcy back in order and pressed ahead. Family rules.
It was nice of the men to assist the women in the kitchen with the cooking! Every dog I have ever seen on Christmas Day is in a good mood - the dachshund is running about like one of the kids! And those big, round Ford tail lights!
Ahh, 1963, My most memorable Christmas with my family, here in England, it was the year of the big freeze.now that's what I call a vintage Christmas with all the family, We had some great fun in the snow, it seemed to go on forever, and I have to say, looking at this yuletide film, the food looks gorgeous,😍🥰😋
I was 10 w3 grew up in Illinois out in the sticks. I remember-20 degrees we walked a mile each way to school. This doesn’t happen anymore. I can remember my mother bringing out the huge box with all of the ornaments and lights. And the Advent Calendar not sure if I still believed in Santa but it was the most wonderful time of the year. Especially being 10 the magic of Christmas was still there I miss those gentle times. Wonderful videos of Christmas past…..
@@ontarioguy4707 I spoke with my older brother we where talking about the old times and walkIng to school. I said yes a mile each way. Told me it was close to 2 miles. Apparently one of the rich kids parents was complaining how far it was and my father said it’s only a mile to shut her up. Hey I was in 1st grade I didn’t care. Where we lived they back drainage ditches. So it gave us tons of stuff to do especially if there was ice. I usually came either wet or muddy. I now being 3 months close to 70 and realize what wonderful times they where. Now sending your child a block would be unheard of. I just hope that people wake up and realize how bad frump was and that the republicans still won’t say how bad he was and the damage he’s done. Happy Holidays to all .. U
We had an uncle who every year at Christmas used to get out his super 8 camera set up with the lights & everything and he'd film everyone. He did this for years, all through my childhood and we never saw the pictures. Eventually we wondered if he was just faking and never put any film in the camera. I guess the pictures would have looked something like this, but can't say for sure because I never saw them.
I was born in 1963 and Americans use to dress nicer for Christmas. Women didn't wear their daughters clothes and grew old gracefully. Thanks ladies, you ruined it for everyone! It's horrible now.
Florida? Rio Grande Valley? The leaves are on the trees at Christmas so it's not too many places in the US! The car appears to have left-hand controls So it's not Australia or South Africa. Not hilly enough to be Southern California!
I had been born, earlier that February... It is interesting to note: JFK had been shot only one month before this family get-together... But life went on, of course.
My grandfather had an elaborate brick basement bar, with a drunk guy holding onto a lamp post toy, pool table, dirty magazines hidden behind the bar, refrigerator filled with beer and knotty paneling. Hold on, was my grandfather a drunken pervert?
