Hi kmom! Thanks so much for your support and sending all your kind messages in 2022! It sounds like you have a lot of fun collecting these very fun old things, like we do! Yes, it's definitely become a problem finding good ways to store them. Those old tree candles that you mentioned are pretty, but I've debated for several years now on whether to continue to store them. It's probably just the oldest (cheaper wax) ones that actually smell bad. I've wrapped them in foam sheets typically because it's a smooth cushion, compared to bubble wrap, but they would not melt because I store them in a bedroom closet or under my bed in Sterilite type bins that fit under the bed. Because they smell worse every year, I've tried even putting Bounce (etc) sheets in the bin to help, but that's not a great smell either. I think if you tried to find the newer candle trees in the thrift stores or craft stores, they may be better wax. As I've mentioned in my videos, I found it fun to embellish them even more with glitter glue. I can't guarantee any one method is better than another. Like using regular glitter mixed in glue or decoupage glue?? I think sometimes, the fabric glittered glue had flaked off some. So I hope those tips are helpful if you decide to thrift some. They are all quite heavy pieces when larger and the bin weighs a lot for me to lift--another thing to keep in mind. I've come to the conclusion, that if I've shown a holiday collection in a video for a couple years, I should consider letting it go--most likely donations. I haven't been selling on eBay since 2020 when we started our channel. I just don't have the time now. I'm earning more on RU-vid than if I were trying to sell lots of littles. I had been selling our vintage things on eBay for 25 years (with a lull during a recession), and decided when COVID hit and people were losing their jobs, that no one may be spending any money on eBay. Norm had just retired, so I wanted to help make some extra income. I thought I could earn some making videos and showing our collections instead of selling them. It took 5 months for me to reach the qualifications to be monetized. That was actually pretty fast to reach 1,000 subscribers as needed. Hi Donna! Thanks for watching another video and asking your question! I used magnetic sheets that you can buy to cover your house furnace vents. I cut them in maybe 4 large pieces and used a hot glue gun (not your only option) and glued some nylon fishing line on the white, non-magnetic side/back of the magnetic sheets for the hanger string. If a tray is heavier, you may need to use double pieces of the sheets and glue them together. There are tray hangers made of plastic with a stronger magnetic hold and an eye for the nail, but they seem to be scarce on the internet or out of stock. I've had several of them for years. I hope that helps. I would just try to make your own with the vent covers and make sure they are big enough to be strong. I think I'd use the E6000 industrial strength solvent based glue, (available at most craft stores and probably hardware too), rather than hot glue. Some of mine hot-glued started peeling away from the shiny white backing on the vent covers. Have fun! Happy New Year! ;-)
