Tour the home of my parents, all decorated for Christmas and filled with years of collected antiques, primitives, Christmas ornaments, feather trees, crocks, and more. #antiquestyle #antique #primitive
I want so bad for the younger generation to understand the warmth and history that is so meaningful when making a home and family.Love it !I was born and raised in a suburb of Philadelphia,so it's in my bones.Ha !Beautiful!
What a wonderful tour! I enjoyed every minute. I am a novice rug hooker and your mother's rugs are so inspiringly beautiful. Thank you for sharing her home.
Nancy Kalin. That name is familiar to me. My mother knew her (or of her) and purchased several antique primitives from her. It would have been around 1984-88-ish and prior to her home's devastating fire near Hartville. I hope I have that history right. Thank you and your parents for sharing their lovely home. Absolutely beautiful, hooked rugs. Your childhood story about the little singing bird in its cage was delightful! I see so much patriotism and service of country represented. ❤ Love that.
Your videos are so lovely!! I love them! The tiny Stetson hat boxes with hats and the tiny shoes are adorable!! I love your parents beautiful home! Thank you so much for sharing!! ❤
Thanks for your kind words. They've collected those little treasures for so many years! Can't remember the last time I saw one, it's definitely been a while.
This home is SO amazing! The talent it would take to set up these vignettes are over the top! Thank you, thank your parents for allowing us to tour their beautiful beautiful home! What a history you have.🤩
Oh my, just love your parents home and so kind of them to share with us. I love hooked rugs, one of my favorite items but so hard to find here. I care for my elderly mom with Alzheimer’s 24/7 and though I have almost no free time, would love to have learned how to do them. We are a retired military family as well. Thank you to yours for their service🇺🇸
You’re Blessed to have parents who enjoy the same things as you. Your parents home was Eye Candy to me, even my retired military husband enjoyed viewing this video. I was into more Primitive style when I lived in a modern Log Home back in the 80’s. I’m now in California however, I still have my favorites like crocks, jugs and other items I couldn’t leave behind in Grand Detour, IL. I also visited my mother in law in Berlin back in 88 and right after the wall was taken down. I had my husband’s friend in Berlin get a piece of the Berlin Wall to ship to the States for me, I love history and to collect . I have a smaller collection of Steiffs then what your mom has. Mine are from the early 80’s. Sad that all 3 of my daughters aren’t collectors like me. Love your videos
I am a fairly new rug hooker, recently moved to New Brunswick Canada, from the West coast. I had never seen another rug or met another hooker until I moved. I have been thrilled to find rug hooking groups here, and to see the primitive style in real life.. would really enjoy a video with your mom in her studio and showing us her rugs up close. I see she only uses cut cloth as well…
Yes, she uses beautiful dyed and as is wools. You're in a wonderful place for rug hooking. I'll talk to her about a special video talking about rug hooking.
What a pleasure and feast for the eyes and soul your very talented mother has allowed us to enjoy! I'm Bavarian and Austrian héritage so also had a childhood seemed in Germanic popular traditions so was really moved. A heartfelt thank you for this beautiful moment. Traditions
I really can't say enough accolades about this AMAZING home! I will look at this video more than once. Thank you for all the information you bring forth. I love the appreciation you have for your heritage.
Fantastic video! Brought back memories of my stages of collecting……Williamsburg, country clutter, industrial farmhouse (my daughter’s idea) to prim. Memories of all the things we buy and sell. The pickle in the tree, the Santa’s from New Geneva every year, the sheep. I love the vignettes in your parent’s home……collections but not clutter set against light walls. Just perfection……..❤️
Oh my being a cross stitcher and needlepoint and wanna be rug hooker from Atlantic Canada this is amazing. Plus their home as well! Love the decor and everything! I remember those bird cages, lol oh the Santa boots!! I have my childhood one and I still put it under my tree. Yes my mum would always go touch the chimney sweeps. My dad was Canadian military and we lived overseas from 63 till 69 and we lived on what we called the economy(so not military housing but in amongst the Germans or french as I also lived in Belgium and France. I often played with the local kids. I wondered if they would have choc molds or cookie rolling pins. Thank your parents for all the wonderful memories their home has given me.❤
Love everything about your parents home. Really enjoy your channel, it’s like with every video I learn something new and interesting. Thank you to your parents for letting us tour their home and loving all the family stories.
I also love the sconces, and we are adding them in our new build as well. Will be making them available for sale here on our site very soon. It's in the works!
Loved the tour of your parent's home. Every little nook and cranny is filled with delightful collected treasures. Again, I'm so glad I discovered your RU-vid channel.
I did a lot of rug hooking in the 1990's, loved it so much, then took up quilr making. Your video has awakened so many memories - their are some pieces not finished and I am wanting to finish them. Loved your video so much and hope to see more. I am in the UK and feel you are a kindred spirit.
Wonderful! Pull out just one small unfinished piece and get started! If you pull out everything you'll get overwhelmed. (Don't ask how I know that!! Lol) Thank you for your kind words!
I enjoy your videos but this is my absolute favorite. Your parents home is wonderful. I most enjoy seeing the hooked rugs. This video inspired me to take a refresher course and start hooking again. I replay this video most days while I hook. Your voice is soothing and her rugs inspiring. Any chance she would be willing to do a video where she talks about her favorite rugs, and her journey through rug hooking? I would so enjoy that. 😊
What a sweet comment. Thank you. My mom does such a beautiful finish on her rugs, I was thinking of doing a video of how she finishes the edges. So glad you've picked your hook back up, keep at it!
Your parent's home is so amazing! All the beautiful antiques and your mother's rugs are just too beautiful!! I am very happy I discovered your channel. Thanks so much for sharing!

what a priviledge to see your mums home, thank you so much. Primitives and folk art have been my passion for over 30 years now, even though I live in Wales , UK. So its been a joy to find you. Im hoping to get over on a holiday next year, love and thanks xxx
Beautiful, lovely home! My dad was retired Air Force, my hubby - Air Force, and now my son-in-law is a pilot in the ... you guessed it, AIR FORCE! hahahaha Many thanks to your father and son for their service to our great nation!
thank you for the wonderful tour of your Mother's Home, it is beautiful and so full of wonderful stories. My husband and I have collected for 40 + years and it is the stories of how and where we found them that is just as meaningful as the objects themselves.
No doubt! I'm so glad to have done the video to capture the stories with the house. My son watched and said there were many things he had not known and been around those pieces his whole life. Merry Christmas!
Thank you for a lovely tour. Your parents home is lovely. My favorite decoration besides the tall feather tree was that little mouse in the corner! So cute!!! Since I am just starting on this journey of primitive and colonial I am redoing all of my trim and walls. Watching the video I saw how the folk art just pops against the walls being light. Your mother’s rugs are just like a jewel on the walls. Can you share their wall paint color and the trim colors. I particularly liked the master bedroom trim. It looked so cheerful! Lovely time viewing this video. And liked your memories, particularly of Germany. I lived there as a child. And consequently my parents made lots of friends that came back with German wife’s. One of them shared that she hated going back to Germany in the winter to see her mother because of how cold it was, or rather how stingy her mother was on running heat. My friend said she had to bundle so much and sleep with so many blankets. My friend was acclimated to the weather here in N.C., no longer Germany. A similar story to your experience.
Thank you sharing your parents very unique home. The story about the stairs happen to me this past Thanksgiving at my daughters home. I was there less then two hours and missed my footing on the second landing . With hitting the right side of my face first I could feel myself rolling down each stair. Thankfully I didn't break any bones at the age of 77 but a swollen eye and a lot of black and blue all over my body. Spent my two weeks there recovering from the fall and yes it did hurt my Pride !
Oh my goodness, that's a terrible feeling when you know you're going down and can't do a thing about it but brace for the landing. So glad you didn't break any bones. Heal well!!
It was fun seeing this even if I am a bit late. Your parents have a beautiful home! Thank you for sharing it with us. Also thanks for showing the bathroom and laundry room. Those rooms give me fits!
What a wonderful tour of your family’s home. I was so delighted with all the antique items so carefully displayed. Your Mom’s hooked rugs are beautiful. Such a skilled crafter. I’m so glad I found your channel today. I will have to watch it over and over again to really take it all in. Thank you for sharing .
I enjoyed visiting very much thank you. Your mother’s rug hooking is exquisite and her work room is a lovely space. Very inspiring. Best wishes from Surrey, England
Wonderful! And the nice thing is depending on if it's a feather tree, it can be on display more than just at Christmas! It can be out for each patriotic holiday too!
Please thank your parents for allowing you to film their wonder-filled home. The stories and memories you shared during the tour added immeasurably. What a wonderful home! Your mother's hooked rugs are amazing. Their collections and antiques are outstanding. I have visited many antique and thrift stores around the country, worked in an antique store in Missouri and have never before seen those little miniature stetson hats and the little shoes. Oh dear, I think I have a new collection to start ! Thank you so much for sharing. Merry Christmas!!
Thank you for your kind words! You've probably seen the little hats and boxes over the years and didn't give them a second glance. But you'll be watching now!
I can not express in words how beautiful your mom's home is and how much I enjoyed this video. Her collections are just wonderful and so unique and so beautifully placed. Thank you so very much for this tour of this exceptionally beautiful home. Have a healthy and happy holiday season to you and your family and look forward to many more videos. ❤️
What a beautiful home your parents have!! Thank you so very much for sharing some of your family history with all of us. And your dear mother is so talented!!! Take care and God Bless you and yours. Merry Christmas!! Sincerely, Diane😊
Love this. Your parents have a wonderful home. Your Mom does beautiful work with her rugs and displays. I enjoyed seeing the hat boxes they are new to me. I enjoyed the Santa boots, the mice in the corner, the Liberty tree. Was that a loop rug with the American flag draped on the back of the chair? It looked more like a tapestry.
I am in awe over your parents' beautiful home ❤️ It is just exquisite and your description of each area made it perfect! Thank you so much for sharing, Merry Christmas to you and yours
What a beautiful and peaceful home, such a treat to have a tour. Your mothers' rugs are gorgeous, I am in love with her current project! Thank you again for this tour and for all the time you are putting in. Nancy Kalen was so popular as a decorator back in the day. We lived not far from her house although I did not know her, but it was fun to drive by her house for a little peek!
I absolutely loved your tour. I am just beginning to hook rugs and your Mom's rugs are amazing. The stories and history behind so many items were very enjoyable and so glad you shared them with us. Just an amazing home with so many stories and smiles.
Good for you on starting this wonderful American folk art craft of rug hooking. The best piece of advice I can offer is find a local group. They are fun and inspiring and a wealth of information.
Love your parents house I talked to you guys at Seville Christmas open house tell your mom I love all her hooked rugs does she by and chance know the name of the rug that says Antiques and Hooked rugs I love that one
My grandfather was a WWI veteran, and I had relatives from Pennsylvania who fought for the Union. I don’t have much I the way of watches but I have a chain for a pocket watch with my Great-great-grandfather’s initials. I would love to know where you get your trees? Thank you for the tour!
What a wonderful home! Thank you so much for the tour. Love seeing the hooked rugs. Does your Mom know the pattern designer for the sheep rug in powder room?
I enjoyed the tour of your parents' beautifully decorated home. But I would like to know what the meaning is behind the German tradition of the pickle ornament on the Christmas tree? I've always wondered but never knew the meaning.
