I gave up on putting gifts in stockings. I always tried putting too much and they always fell off the hanger. This year I bought the reusable shopping bags I found at WalMart. I bought a Minnie Mouse for my daughter (she is 22 and loves Disney) and I bought a Spider-Man one for her boyfriend. This way I have plenty of room for what I get them and they can use their bags later on. It is really useful when he goes home to carry his gifts in. I used to do all the candy type stuff when she was little but now I do items like razors, electric toothbrushes, puzzle books and stuff like that.

My 11 and 7 year olds have never had gum. It's not something we chew so I don't buy it, but also with my stepson it was stuck literally everywhere, even the shower wall so I don't buy it.
