Nicholas, here's some friendly advice I heard someone once said - perfectionism is the killer of creativity. Just relax more, have fun creating your content; your followers are going to watch regardless. 😉
Agreed! His videos bring my roommate and me so much joy. My roommate is 85 years old, and she just loves Nicolas Fairford. She has never travelled that much, and his travel videos has sparked a new interest in her to travel. She says "Oh, be damn with age." LOL...she is a feisty lady. Thank you, Nicolas, for what you do. We know it's not easy, but we know you are having so much fun.
Just to reiterate what others are saying…don’t pressure yourself to be perfect and deliver longer videos. You don’t want the audience to drown in content filler just for the sake of perfection. You are so fortunate Nicolas to be doing something you love, even though it can be stressful at times. I work as an event server/hostess helper, and like you I get to be in the most wonderful places and meet amazing people. Sometimes I don't realise til the next day just how hard I worked but honestly, I always feel so grateful for it :)
Nicholas, just some thoughts in hopes of easing your mind. Your regular viewers have seen your high standards for videos. We know you have the brains and talent. You've already proven all of that. I don't want to speak for everyone here, but truly I think your viewers just like you and we want you to feel relaxed, be yourself, forget needing to do everything perfectly, and trust us. I always notice that most of the people commenting on your channel are kind, encouraging, intelligent, and emotionally mature. We want you to just be you because we genuinely like you. Do whatever makes you happiest, take chances to see what you like, and we'll still be here cheering you on. ❤

I'm quite sure you would have many attendees at a 'meet and greet'. Even though you might lull them all to sleep 🍃 with your calming voice. A venue with Comfy Chairs might be in order. Embrace your single life now while you can ~ as I did when younger. It provided me so much individual growth and appreciation for the relationship and marriage I eventually found in my early 30s. I know that you are in your 30's whereas I am in my early 60's but to hear that someone is content whether by themselves or in a relationship speaks maturity and gratefulness to me. I have been single for 20 years and like you said am happy with having a roof over my head, friends and family and many more blessings that aren't connected to being in a relationship. Greenwich, Connecticut would be a good meetup place if you travel to the U.S. It’s more your style than NYC, calmer atmosphere, right on the border and easily accessible from multiple locations, although NY also offers its own particular advantages. ASMR is a fantastic thing for you to try. I'm obsessed with it (I literally watch it every day). It's very competitive however so make sure you're is unique. ASMR is one of the dominant video types on RU-vid right now. Make sure to go in confident because if you make it seem like it's weird for you to do we will pick up on that and feel weird too. A lot of channels fail because the ASMRtist feels embarrassed to be doing it

I've known from the first time I watched one of your videos that you are a natural ASMR-tist. I've been watching ASMR channels for over a decade, so I know natural talent when I see it! 😊 A separate channel would be awesome, but you could also just label the ASMR videos as such, similar to what the Victoria and Albert Museum channel does. Don't put so much pressure on yourself to be perfect. We have no idea how you're seeing this Come out in your head so for us Whatever you give us is whatever you give us and It's fine. I prefer a more casual vlog style of just your weekly activities. Kind of a check in with a small check in here and there. You could throw in some of that 1960's English presenter stuff if you prefer But it's really not necessary for you to work that hard. We're friends. Have a Merry Christmas. I would absolutely love an AMSR channel with your voice, soft beautiful music, etc. You have a few videos on your current channel that are very much like this and they are my favorite. You could even do an ASMR version of your travel videos.

Nicolas, you mentioned having a separate ASMR channel and asked for our opinion. I had no idea what ASMR was so I checked out about 20 videos. I gather they are to help you to relax, or sleep, but it had the opposite effect on me. Everybody used this annoying way of whispering, were making clicking sounds and a couple were even tapping their fingers on a toiletry bag. I was actually agitated instead of relaxed. I think if you just spoke in your own calm voice, with reduced volume, it would be very effective.

I had an extremely busy Christmas and stored this video to be watched later. Hence 'Happy New Year!' I love the idea of you doing ASMR. I don't love the idea of the hour-long videos though. I never watch videos that long. 20 to 30 minutes fits in well with my lifestyle. I fear if they were an hour long I would stop watching, or save one only for a special occasion. Best of luck anyway with your plans for 2024.
