Hey Friends!
It's been forever since I've done a home tour and was so excited to bring the home tours back with a Christmas/Holiday tour! I'm so bummed that I lost the other footage of the house, but I'll definitely do a more detailed home tour once the holidays are over! If you've been around my channel for awhile, I'm sure you know that I love decorating for the seasons and I love all things cozy!
Here are my TOP 5 TIPS for seasonal decorating on a budget:
1. SHOP AFTER THE SEASON ENDS - hit up places like Target, Walmart, Home Goods and Hobby Lobby - the after Christmas sales are amazing and are when I've gotten so much of my home decor. I purchase stuff after Christmas for 50-90% off, store it away and then when I take it all out the following year, it's all brand new and ready to go! I particularly like to look for and stock up on string lighting, Christmas trees and holiday wall decor.
2. SELL YOUR UNWANTED/OLD DECOR - since first starting RU-vid, I've sold about 75% of my home decor - which has provided extra funds to find and purchase new decor. Out with the old, in with the new!
3. SHOP USED DECOR - just like I enjoy selling my old home decor, I also love browsing Facebook Marketplace, LetGo and thrift stores, like Good Will! Sometimes you can find some amazing treasures for half the cost!
4. SHOP FOR TIMELESS PIECES - for the last couple of years I've been really trying to search out pieces of decor that I think will be loved and enjoyed for many years to come. I have been trying to stay away from the "trendy" decor or doing "color schemes" so that what I buy is more of an investment instead of having to purchase new decorations each year.
5. KEEP IT SIMPLE - this tip took me awhile to figure out, but sometimes less is more! For example, I use to use so many string lights on each tree, but I've found that using 1 strand of globe lights looks just as bright and fun as a ton of smaller string lights.
