Christmas in July | Episode 116 

I make multiples of many Christmas projects. My son's in-laws have 'adopted me' since my husband passed and my son's family moved to IN. I always make something small for their families to have a Christmas. This year, I did embroidery winter birds in small frames, I'll add greenery and ribbons to make them ornaments before I wrap them. They have no idea how much it means to me that they've added me to their family.

It took a while, but I finally learned not to purchase fabric on impulse and to go to my stash first. Beginning a project with a plan is great advice for it is likely fewer mistakes will be made resulting in a more pleasant quilting experience. Valerie is darling. A perfect baby quilt.

All good advice! I've had Christmas fabric scattered here and there all through my stash. I would make a project, and just put the leftovers in with my other fabric. I recently went through everything and pulled out all the Christmas fabric and put it in one bin by itself. It was astonishing how much I have, so there's very little I'll need for a long time, to supplement it for making new projects.

I often comment on your hair or your clothing how nice you look but I especially like your opinions. People get sensitive and argumentative about opinions. I believe this is the USA We are all entitled to an opinion. You gave wonderful advice with the people choose to take it or leave it. Keep up the good work.

So true on having a plan BEFORE going to the fabric store. I have so many FQ and 1-2 yd. of fabric I bought because I loved them. Now I'm trying to destash and I'm not good at matching fabrics, so I have trouble picking a pattern to use them. Wish I had bought matching project fabric instead when I was shop-hopping!

Another video I have started doing. I don’t have a fabric store near me except for Hobby Lobby, so I mainly buy online. Some sales are hard to pass up. I say to myself, do you need it, do you have a pattern you plan on using it for, most of the time I pass. Especially with this economy,

You would love me in your store! I don’t purchase any fabric less than 4 yards. In most cases, I only buy full bolts. I sew a lot so I disagree that the “extra fabric” would be a waste.
