This year we are celebrating Christmas in four places: Switzerland, England, Paris and the chateau! Join us for our first destination as we visit the magical wintry wonderlands of both Geneva and Gruyere, sampling all of the finest Swiss delights. We also show you how Gruyere cheese is made!

ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

It has a christmassy (outside) and cozy atmosphere (inside the restaurants -with the fondue- ) A feeling of formerly Christmas I like so much ! Gruyere is a enchanted place we visited in the summer. It's a beautiful medieval village. We also went to the Swiss Knight Gruyere cheese factory it was so much fun. And a near by chocolate factory. Switzerland by far is the most beautiful country in the world. And has the best chocolate and cheese. 😊💜🇨🇭

Such a wonderful time traveling along to Switzerland with all of you! ''Very beautiful!" Congratulations Isabella and her best friends' graduation! This was spectacular to see the sites and it was exciting to see how many places were set up to purchase from even though it was cold and snowy and paid no attention to the cold. I know they are used to it because of living so far North, but usually when cold in my area, we do not stay out too long or more than we must! LOL (Vivienne love your coat and especially the fur on the hood it looks very stylish on nice on you!) This was fun, and it was wonderful to see how many do love Fondue, and it did look delicious. Interesting about how the cheese was made, using milk taken in mornings and evenings only, to make the Gruyere cheese! The stores have so many unique ornaments and just a perfect place to find gifts for Christmas! The cow bells were so sweet, and hand painted very nicely. (The poor cows living with those chiming on their necks all the time! LOL) Am sure they get used to it all though in time, and at least they will never be lost! Thank you for taking me along on this wonderful trip and to see the graduation ending, also! Wonderful vlog, as always! Sending ❤ to all at Chateau Love! 🌲🌲🌹🎄

It was so nice to watch you trip the Switzerland. It brings back many memories of when I live in Geneva for three years. Taking the train to Gstaad, looping the lake, changing to the mountain train in Montreaux and passing Gruyère on my way up the he mountain. My sister still live up and over the mount from Gstaad. I loved getting to visits her every few weekends and she was always so fun to visit because she would take me to beautiful and wonderful places. So my memories are very special and watching your video brought back when one of the time we went to Gruyère. You should’ve gone to the Montreaux Christmas market it is a really good one. Next time😊. It would be lovely to see. Loved that broach you showed, would of loved it but out of my comfort zone so maybe you will find other Swiss jewelry along the way

You mentioned coming back in summer to see Gruyere in its glory - but I would recommend the fall, when they bring the cows back down from the high summer pastures. You can hear the procession of their HUGE bells coming all the way down the hill - they stop traffic for the parade of garlanded cows - it's magical. Another area that does a great job at this is around Lucerne.

Love to visit Switzerland some year!!! My grandfather’s dairy cattle had cow bells. When my brother and I would stay the summer at my grandparents farm, we had to go down the cow lane up and down big hills to get the cows. Omg! I hated the thought because the bull was out there too. So I stayed close to my brother who knew the old bull. Lol! Sometimes we couldn’t see them, we could here those old bells so we knew where to go!! Such fond memories!! I love old castles!! Well, thank you for bringing us with you. Just soo such an incredible experience!!! Lots of love in Tennessee!!

Hello Vivienne and Simon ! I remember very well gruyère ton in Switzerland ! It is wonderful ! I am Frznch , but I live and work in Genève before, 30 years ago ! I like Constance lake, I also love Montreux for the jazz festival and the Suisse Valais Region, where they speak German. Saas Grund AND Saas Fee, are very well known for skiing and alpinisme
