I watched this video twice. The first time was to learn how to make an origami christmas tree. The second time I just wanted to hear your beautiful accent for 29 minutes and 19 seconds.
El diseño es excelente, el tutorial magnífico, y el resultado es un árbol espectacular. Una vez más gracias, Sara Adams, por facilitarnos el poder recrear estas frágiles obras de arte.
Thanks so much for the videos. I made my first fir tree this year. I added some glitters at the edges of the branches as finishing touches but the tree by itself is really nice.
i used paper that was between 60cm and 30cm amazing results! im going to make a few simple boxes (presents) and put them uneder it. thanks for the video
@TheThinkingExpress It will look slightly different, but I'm sure just as wonderful. Especially for this model you can definitely vary the paper sizes a bit.
I absolutely love this tree! The first time I did it, each layer took me hours, literally, to do as I had chosen a very light paper and it wouldn't hold in its place. Thanks!
@CanwllCorfe615 You can cut larger squares to smaller squares. For example, I started with five 15 cm (6in) squares and cut down 3 of them. Also, you don't need to use exactly these sizes. Using slightly larger or smaller gaps between the paper sizes will still work, and you can change the look and feel of the tree with it to match your taste.
Hello, I have a little sugestion. I am sure someone wrote it here before, byt here it goes again. When cutting the triangles from the square, it is much easyier to do so if you leave the paper folded like in 4:11 . You don't have to eye-ball wehre to put the ruler, you can use the edge of the paper as a guide instead. Thums up if you find my advice helpful ;)
I made a larger version with my largest squares as 70cm x 70cm and it looked good (before I had to move house and it got squashed!). The only problem I found was with the trunk becoming a little unstable due to the paper naturally wanting to expand out. This meant the edges on the bottom didn't stay flat to the surface it was standing on. I am currently planning on making even larger ones to help decorate the office I work in this year!
+Russell Wainman Hi, I want to make a 3 feeet version of this. How high were you able to make it with a starting square of 70 x 70 cm and how many layers did you make?
@origamijery Yes, if you prefer. It will give you some extra thickness in those areas, but as the model itself has few layers in the completed state, I think it should still be ok.
When she says "Naturally" my origami instantly bursts into flames. I have never gotten collapsed models to work out correctly. Probably because I cant find Kami paper easily without going to a craft store and paying a pretty penny.
If you struggle to get Kami paper in a shop search for it online. Jong Ie Nara sell it in boxes of 500 sheets and about 20 colours for about £16. Amazon and similar places sell it.
Loved this tree (mine came out great)and all your instructional origami videos wow so nice you go to all the trouble to mark your creases wow that is best part of your instructions as I can usually see what crease I'm folding to now wow thank you so much for posting these and Merry Christmas!!! don't know how to say it in German heheheh!!!
#myfirst I'm pretty sure my fussy video was even earlier than this one, but this is the one that really convinced me that following a video instead of diagrams could be great fun :)
#myfirst Não tenho certeza se foi o primeiro vídeo, mas foi um deles. Já te vi de cabelo longo e de cabelo curto e também com seus dois filhos ainda bebês. Bahia - Brasil
#myfirst I remember it was around Christmas time and I wanted to make a small christmas tree to have in my room. I liked this one the most and the instructions were clear as well! Not sure if the first video was this or the clover tesselation though.
So difficult I am confused from 7:23 to 8:04 but I am working on it. Tomorrow I have my Origami Competition. I want to be in the first position my topic - Man and Nature. Thanks for the video it is very helpful for me :D
I remember folding this too :D a long time ago, not sure if this was #myfirst or the rose of roses, I was really happy with my Christmas tree till my cat decided to play with it T_T
Ive made this a few times thanks to this video. Its awesome. But what Im wondering is, is it possible to make each layer alternate? Like each layer of fir not directly on top of each other yow know what i mean? I know im making it complicated but I really wanna do that :(
That depends on how large the tree should be. Check the video description for the sizes I used. Then see how much you have to multiply the height by to get what you want. Use the same multiplication factor for the sheets to fold the tree from. For example, if you want the tree to be three times as tall, take squares with a side length three times of what I used.
@ kong thai chong: i would also like to make a large tree so i wanted to ask (if you have already folded) - how big did it turn out and is it sturdy? thankyou!
