1- GIVE YOURSELF SOME GRACE! 2- you now know that you need to implement some safety measures and THE WHAT TO DO’S… Just from experience ~ You can’t help what you don’t know! But Maybe Think of Safety in these sorts of ways.. WHAT DO THE SCHOOLS OR OTHERS DO WHEN THERES An EMERGENCY!?!! 3- MAKE A PLAN! And YES! I never thought about reaching out to your local FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR a Q&A session.. BUT HOW SMART!! Especially when dealing with a the handicap and /or with someone who has Dementia or Alzheimer’s! But, I used to always keep my info in great details, written out on a poster board and taped it on my refrigerator for Any ER purposes! ~ I did this when my kids were ~ well kids! But as an ADULT who literally just had THE MOST HORRIBLE experience EVER {and I have been mugged in 1995, hit in the head with a sawed off shotgun} that was scary to say the least but being woke up after a mere hour of sleep- to which it was already 5am - now 6a I’m woken to a NIGHTMARE! I was beyond shocked and upset and ALL THE FEELINGS OF FEAR AND DISBELIEF! I was to the state of mentally just- gone.. I couldn’t tell you anything but my address, I couldn’t tell them my subdivision name of my community Bc of PURE SHOCK! At first when I dialed 911- I remembered looking at my phone and I literally had dialed.. “911 3 911” And had to redial! But.. FEAR & SHOCK WILL DO YOU IN - in many ways! So do get yourself some much needed rest!! It’s physically & emotionally draining! But when my kids were young we had a DESIGNATED AREA TO MEET AT IN CASE OF A FIRE! And we had practiced and we went over it many times! But set up a safe place to meet in case you are ever UNABLE TO GET TO THEIR ROOM and IF THEY GOT OUT THROUGH THE WINDOW, THEN THEY KNEW WHERE TO GO!! {say the mailbox or lamp post} somewhere away from harm! But you would know WHERE TO EXPECT THEM TO BE IF THEY WERE OUTSIDE AND therefore YOU WERE NOT TRYING TO GO BACK INSIDE TO FIND THEM! IF you {or whoever May read this comment- I USE CAPS- to EMPHASIS onto the Important things~ I’m not trying to SCREAM.. lol ugh} So - if you, as a parent are not home and you have kids at the home by themselves and something was to happen ~ God forbid, but things happen!… so do they, no.. IT was BEYOND me to call for help! And poor Katie just had a horrible experience ~ never assume that ppl know what to do! What if you were home and you passed out or feel and hit your head and was unconscious.. the kids are NOT going to remember ALLL the things! Make a poster and tape it where it can stay for any and everyone who possibly needs that information at a moments notice and make a safety plan as to what and where to go incase of FIRE!! Please do not wait! Life is short and to many times all of a sudden things happen… but name address phone number and number to mom and dad and closet neighbor and maybe whoever’s grandparents are the closest ~ some info to call someone else as well so they can help in a time of need and security for a child and us as adults!! When you list your address Put HOW TO GET to you if it’s a hard location or like us growing up~ we’re in Alabama and back when I was a kid we lived in the DEEP WOODS!! and NO ONE knew how to get to our house or even where our community was! There wasn’t a 911 and when I was 13 I came down with JRA~RA now {J- Juvenile} RA rheumatoid arthritis, and I had passed out one morning and I later woke up {ps~ my dads a rockstar.. he caught me before I hit the floor- I had told him that everything was going black and then I couldn’t see~ that the last thing I remembered before waking} many minutes later!! My mom was trying to tell the ER how to get to our house which still isn’t easy to do.. but thankfully we now do have 911! But my folks still live out there and so ~ that experience alone is why I always had everything written out and it was posted on the fridge so anyone who may be there had it and I felt better! It’s all about Planning for the UNEXPECTED! I now live in the middle of town and most everyone knows us.. but still those moments happen! And so I share this little bit of knowledge in hopes to help others Bc when fear and shock scared and all the things that can .. WILLLLL! And please KATIE~ Do NOT EVER ASK WHAT ELSE!!!! BC GOD WILL STEP UP AND CRAP WILL HAPPEN! As we say in the south! And I fear those words!! Bc it’s so true!! It can and we DO NOT WANT IT TO! 😳🥴☺️ prayers to you and your mom!!! I’m so glad you are ok! I don’t recall you saying what actually happened so I now will rewatch!! I do know that you are drained! After my situation I finally got to go to bed at around 9p +/- my gf had came over to stay as well as my ole man was here, but they said I was OUT seconds after my head hit the pillow! I was beyond exhausted and mentally spent~ I cry trying to type these last few words Bc it’s never going to go away ~ sadly..
