I was nine years 10 months and 2 days old lol 😂 The ultimate 90s kid ! Not one of those kids that are born in 1999 and say they are 90s kids wearing Rugrats shirts
@@YuukiTakemoto1996 I don't unfortunately :( I do, however, remember seeing Jurassic Park 3 there, going bowling, buying Donkey Kong 64 and buying Pokemon Diamond version there too. And, right before the pandemic, I remember going there on dates to go go-karting, climbing their rope course, and going to D&B lol
If there was a time machine for me to leave this damned era of Today to here on this video from ‘98, it would be awesome and it would be my best day ever completely and just stay there
And i wish there was a Time Stoppage Mode or its just an imagination power for me to use to stop that time from moving forward towards this damned era and just stay in the past and not move forward
I was 18 in 98 at this time about to graduate from high school was on my way to college both my parents my aunt many older cousins I have were still alive. Watching this really teleports me back to a much simpler time I was so young and inexperienced I had no clue how much my life would change just two years after this. What a great and exciting time in my life 1998.
I love how everyone is looking straight ahead and aware of their surroundings. It's such a contrast from today where you have to dodge the phone zombies that will steamroll into you if you don't get out of their way. I miss the 20th century.
almost all those phone zombies are people that were around then, the phones and facebook seem to have hit boomers just as hard if not worse than us zoomers, and gen x invented the things so its really not our fault
Trust me man, I work at a mall and hardly ever use my phone out in public. People are sooooo goddamn slow and unaware of their surroundings. No consideration anymore
Wow, crazy to see this mall how it was in the first year of its existence. I went to the soft opening of this mall back in late 1997 with my brother. So crazy to see it how it was back then again. It was so packed, you couldn't even find a parking spot. I could have been walking around this mall as a 22 yr old when this footage was taken :). Too bad it ruined the nearby Nanuet Mall. That was where I grew up. Thanks for posting this!!
Thanks for uploading what the Palisades Mall was like in the '90s (I just want to jump in there to remember what it was like to be in my teens again lol). Unfortunately, most stores in Palisades are replaced with entertainment games like VR or arcades (there isn't that many clothing stores left and I even heard they got rid of the carousel). JCPenney, Lord & Taylor, and now Bed, Bath, and Beyond are all permanently closed. Macy's and Best Buy (along witH BJ's and Home Depot) managed to make it for over 20 years.
Yup. Macy's, Best Buy, AMC, Chili's, Wendy's, Little Tokyo, BJ's, Home Depot, Nathan's, Sbarro, Zumiez, Dave n Busters, the Ice Skating rink, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, H&M, Johnny Rockets, and Friday's are the only OG places left
@@truthbetold6011 Would it not be awkward to be followed around like that? Especially in a time where we didn’t have cameras in our face 24/7. You can see the awkwardness on so many of those faces. But I’m glad these videos were made either way.
Sometimes I wish that I could go back to this ERA! This mall was up and running back in ’98 , but now almsot half of the stores shown at 29:28 have closed!
You know what I miss about the mall the old design I miss the neon lights, the carpets and the blue bulbs don’t get me wrong I like the modern design too but I have so much nostalgia for the old design of the mall
Every once in awhile when I'm here, I actually pull this video up to compare how different the aesthetic is now, and what stores are still there or not. It's interesting to me for some reason. I'm here very often, so it's really cool to see how it used to look. Specifically the shot at 27:10 I got a picture of to compare, and it's almost exactly the same with Johnny Rockets and Nathan's still there, but the Climb Adventure thingy is in the way lmfao. And of course the lighting is so much different. But yeah I love the Palisades Mall. It's been surprisingly busy and alive again lately
I’m gonna literally cry because pacsun was my all time favorite store in the 90s and early 2000s Everything now suxx I met Fred durst from the band limp bizkit in 1999 at pacsun He was buying skate shoes haha I bought a couple tees from pacsun He was a very cool and laid back guy I miss the 90s so much uhhhh 😥
That is what it was like shopping at Madison Square Mall here in Huntsville, AL back in the 90s. I miss that mall. It was demolished in 2017 to make way for a newer outdoor venue and park called Mid City District. Palisades reminds me of Opry Mills Mall in Nashville or Cool Springs Galleria a bit. The way the floor layout looks.
Were these people asked if they minded to be filmed because there wasn’t any secret recordings in 1998. You didn’t have an iPhone, you had a big video camera 😂 whoever recorded these, thank you. This takes me back to being a carefree teenager shopping at the mall in the late nineties.
Back then, May Department Stores like Filene's (Boston MA based) existed. Since 2006, the Filene's store in Palisades Center Mall is now Macy's after the chain bought out May Department Stores Company in 2005.
This is 90s/early 2000s Palisades (1998-2004 era). 2005-2012 Palisades was it's own era. And then you have the modern Palisades which has been around since 2013
Remember when Salvation Army people sang Christmas carols outside stores? Nowadays it’d probably be considered a hate crime or something. Remember when we had nice things? Remember that?
hey vampire robot! jus curious how u have access to all this footage? w u or sumone u know a camera man back then in charge of getting b roll footage? great stuff!!
acrylic sweater *on sale* was 20 bucks. that means originally it was probably around 30, of course we can't be sure but let's just guess. currently you can buy an acrylic sweater in fast fashion stores for 20-30 bucks regularly, maybe 10-20 on sale. isn't it crazy how the prices of fast fashion have stayed the same or gone down, while everything else has gone up? just shows how these companies are really the shadiest of all...
I love the 90s too, but let's be realistic: half of all wildlife is gone, and we've decimated 7 out of 9 planetary boundaries. This overconsumption, though it looks cute, is the reason why. We won't improve as a species until we can be completely objective about ourselves.
What is the department store at the beginning? It sure looks a lot like a Kaufmann's Department Store especially with the layout in the men's department.
1998, age 26. I never went to this mall, but it sure looked nice. Malls are an adventure; you can find anything and yet discover something you've never seen. It's comfortable, relaxing and fun. I still go to my local malls but mainly shop at the anchor stores.
I live 2 miles from this mall. A few people over the years have jumped to their death from inside this mall. So what's the deal with this channel? I can't find any info. Is this a collection of videos that the channel's owner made them self? Or do they find videos all over the web from different people and compile them together on this channel?
