we had a christmas miracle ... our lost kitty came home...we got a facebook message at 12.10 am christmas eve well technically christmas sharing a photo of my boy so i texted frantically saying he's ours n has been missing for 6 weeks so she stayed in n phoned when he showed up for food SO WE'RE EXTREMELY THANKFUL ....brought the little darling back on christmas day so best present ever ....had a awesome dinner n enjoyed family time 💜💚
My youngest son got sick on Christmas Eve so the family cancelled Christmas dinner at our house but it was a blessing in disguise, we enjoyed our time together as just our family unit 💕
Looked amazing! 😁 In England we had Roast Turkey covered in bacon, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, chestnut stuffing with sausagemeat, Brussels, carrots, Cumberland sausages wrapped in bacon & thick meat gravy made from the meat juices of turkey. Dessert was Christmas pudding, fresh cream or cheesecake and after dinner mints. Drinks were sofas and Shloer .😁 Happy Christmas.
This is the year that broke us, LOL. We literally did not care. We made Christmas ultra casual. I made some crawfish etouffee, oatmeal cookies, garlic bread, and pulled out some gumbo I made from the freezer a month ago. My aunts brought over some salad, salmon, and pies and that was it. The vacuum that has never had a single issue stopped working, and my dad accidentally left some ingredients in the pantry for two days instead of in the freezer, but it was what it was. Everyone was tired and most of the family was staying away due to covid concerns with travel, so everyones gift to everyone was a digital gift card. The family ate, talked a while, and then left after 3 hours. This is compared to the last grand Christmas with 60 people in 2019, so I'm ready for Covid to leave, and I'm ready to get back to the days where you could really celebrate and hug and be merry. Maybe next year....
Oh I loved my grandma's red gumbo. She would make hers and pawpaw would make his gumbo which I always called the dark gumbo growing up. Lol. Grandma also made the best salmon patties. Oh I need to make some red gumbo
Looks like y'all had a wonderful holiday! I can't believe how grown up the kiddos are. Time flies. Just hubby and I this year. Kids had other plans. We just had a quiet time. I donated platelets on Christmas Eve so I had to take it easy. Just made snacky stuff - the smokies and meatballs, sausage cheese balls, and got a veg tray from Publix. We ended up donating what we would have spent for fancy dinner to our local food bank. It was just what we needed. Starting Day One on your planner. So excited! Got my marching orders for today and I'm off to a successful new year. Already got two things crossed off my list! Yay!
Merry Christmas Hughes Family!! The Overstreet Family (which is us!) spent Christmas with my husband and I in quarantine with COVID. We got to watch our children (19 and 21) open their present on the back porch under a tree that "santa" put out so I could at least have the joy of seeing my babies open their gifts. Then we went back to our room and they went on their merry way. I want to be sad about it but I am blessed for the little things.
Our Christmas was amazing, we are Italian and we have the feast of 7 fishes on Christmas eve so that was great, we had shrimp cocktail, stuffed mushrooms, charcuterie board with cheeses, meats, fruits, nuts, candy, crostini with different spreads, bbq kielbasa, meatballs sausage and sauce. For Christmas dinner we has sauce with meatballs, sausage, rigatoni, tossed salad, garlic bread. Dessert both Christmas eve and day was the 20 dozen cookies we made for us and family and friends gifts. We are truly blessed to have our family around.
Merry Christmas Kimmy ♡. Loved this Christmas Special. Since we are on semi "lockdown" here in Montreal, we opened gifts on zoom, but it was just me and my youngest for dinner. Still cooked for an army and distributed pies, cookies and leftovers by taxi. ( we have a great taxi service here). :)
I'm 75 years old and made my FIRST green bean casserole. Our family's traditional veg has always been creamed spinach. My son requested it. 🤔😘 We liked it.
Fascinating! I will definitely be trying to make that salami rose next year for our antipasto tray! That was our first course along with Italian bread. Next it was lasagna and eggplant parmesan. Then it was prime rib with sauted green beans and small potatoes baked and seasoned. Then it was an hour of unwrapping gifts while digesting to then make room for too many desserts when we are done. All that food fed 15 family members and we all took home leftovers!
I love how Paige is staring at the tree...so adorable! We had a very quiet Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We usually have a big Christmas eve dinner for about 30+ people. This year it was just our immediate family...best Christmas we've had in many years. We had the typical foods, ham, potato salad, green beans with bacon, deviled eggs, broccoli salad etc.
Oh my goodness those kids have grown so much. I almost don't recognize them. Page melts my heart. She was sitting there looking at her stocking. Oh my goodness my heart was in a puddle.
Christmas was a casual day with a brunch of pancakes, bacon and eggs around noon with my oldest daughter and grandkids. They then left to share the rest of the day with other family so the 3 (hubby, myself, and youngest) of us decided to have beef stew in the instant pot for dinner. It was delish!!
Merry Christmas beautiful lady. I love that you show your house a little untidy to start so that it feels like a normal home and not fake and unachievable.
Here is a list of our dinners, eve we had homemade chicken and noodles, turkey and ham, green bean casserole, cream cheese corn, mashed potatoes , cranberry salad, and we had appetizers, summer sausage, different crackers, olives, stuffing, homemade dinner rolls, pies and we had some gluten free items for my grandson. He also helped me make the noodles. Deviled eggs too! Christmas was the same. No cookies, we have them for New Years . Everything was great, even the dry stuffing. I still ate some. Thanks for sharing yours! Love your videos! Happy New Year!
In my house we save the bacon grease to use when cooking in the future . It works well when I’m sautéing things, helps stuff not stick and gives lots of flavor
Because we do a big Thanksgiving with turkey and all the trimmings we opt for a special Christmas breakfast and we do take out for our big meal. This year it was Indian food which was delicious . Everyone ( my husband) agreed it's all about the pies, so no one cares what food we have as long as everyone gets their favorite pie. Your Christmas look wonderful and it always pays to be flexible when cooking a big meal.
Merry Christmas! I use the Rhodes cinnamon rolls too, but I make a caramel sauce. 1 cup butter melted, 1 cup packed brown sugar and 1 cup heavy whipping cream. Whisk together and pour in the baking dish, and place rolls on top. Allow to rise overnight and bake in the morning. They are so gooey and delicious!
We just had 2 for Christmas and I was able to use freezer elements: The cornbread dressing and broccoli rice casserole. Yay! I made gravy and roasted chicken. I've just gotten into roasting chickens and believe this is something I want to do alot of in 2022. We have homemade cookie dough rolls in the freezer so we made fresh hot cookies for dessert. It was a very good day. Plus I got to take some food to a friend who couldn't come to the house because of an illness. Thanks for sharing your life. I believe you must be related to wonder woman! All the things you accomplish. God Bless and Keep
Our Christmas was great. Last years was pretty rough, so this year just to be with all our family and friends was wonderful! We had finger foods for Christmas Eve night family celebration, and then big breakfast on Christmas Day. The only thing I tried to make and did not turn out was Chocolate covered maple creams candy. I have tried several times to make them, and they never work out. For Christmas Day dinner we had Chinese Buffet, it's our tradition. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
Merry Christmas to the family!! I did not cook this year. Because of my broken foot I ordered a ham dinner, which wasn't bad at all. Instead of mashed potatoes, it came with scalloped potatoes, which were delicious. Christmas is by far over..... we're Ukrainian so we still have a celebration on January 7th, no gifts, just family and good food.
it was just the two of us and I ATE TWO POUNDS OF SNOW CRAB LEGS. I would do it again. I don't regret it. It was the only time I finally had enough crab legs. I steamed them over the baby potato, Zatarans and corn and then crisped them in the oven at 400. I only took out of the oven what we were eating at the time so they would stay hot. They were perfectly crisp and hot. It is my favorite and so I don't do the traditional dinner at Christmas time. The candle light was to warm the little pots of butter to dip our crab in and it was spectacular! When I finished my crab I poured all the warm butter over the little red potatoes and corn.... Darn. I have another 4 pounds in the freezer. I might just have to make them New Years Eve.
Me and my partnet usually travel for Christmas since neither of us has Family to go to. This year we were supposed to go to Rome, but cancelled at the last minute you-know-why. We decided to stay home for the first time for Christmas eve (the main event in Finland) and it was actually lovely. We started the day with Santas hot line where he answers calls from kids before leaving his trip. Then we desided to do the ultimate Christmas sauna at our local shared pool right next to the presidenst recidense. It was -10 celcius, sun was shining and the pool was heated. So pretty and surreal. For dinner we made this vegan ham like thing in the oven with sweet potato casserol and macaroni casserol (a new thing to me but my partner said that they used to make that when he was a kid), some "vegan cured fish" made out of carrots, mushroom sallad and pear sallad. We finnished the evening with the original Batman and some chokolates. Chill and nice!
This was beautiful! Your kids are so grown up...it was fun seeing them! I am looking forward to watching all of your new videos in 2022! Happy New Year!
We really enjoy you and your family sharing your Christmas with us. First of all, I'd like to say thank you so much for your comments, waiting on Santa!! Our little is still a big Santa fan and was thankful and grateful the way you made sure that you said you were waiting on Santa's arrival. Lovely family and loved the cool things you all did together. Thanks so much.
So fun to watch your fun family Christmas. Our family had covid all of Christmas week so all our fun plans and cooking went out the window. :( We have had LOTS of family time still, so that's been a blessing. But it sure made for a very different holiday. Thanks for sharing so I could live vicariously through you a bit! :)
I cook my bacon in the oven.. start out with a cold oven and put the bacon on parchment paper or extra wide tin foil on a sheet pan(easier clean up) bake it to desired doneness on 350 degrees.
Merry Christmas! The cooking was dividend between 5 families made it easier so everyone was able to join in the games & not be so tired. Had so much fun! Very blessed.
Hello My Fellow RU-vidr Content Creator @She's In Her Apron@ New Visiting Friend .. Congratulations On Preparing A Lovely Wonderful Holiday Feast.. .Especially The Bacon😋 My Favorite Breakfast Meat ..Happy New Year To You And the Entire family..☑️✔⏭🙏🙏🙏🙏😎
Since we live right near Louisiana ( we are in south east Texas) we went to a friends and had gumbo and rice for lunch on Christmas Day. That evening we came home and had turkey, and all the fixings. So we had friends who came from San Antonio so we decided to shred all the turkey from the day before and we all made homemade turkey tamales! Delicious!!!!! Huge hit! I wanted to make roast tamales but time was short and the turkey ones probably came out even better!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love watching your channel. You inspire me to clean and cook all the yummy foods you prepare. I pretty much do that same menu but on my green bean casserole i saute chopped bacon and onions and then add all the rest of the ingredients, Thank you for everything you teach us and show us. You are awesome and we appreciate you. Have a blessed week.
As a British girl we seem to do things very differently here. And all from scratch too. No packets or microwaved things. Eeww no. Why don’t you check out Jamie Olivers gravy, Nigellas website too. Considering all the prep you do for thanksgiving it just astounds me that you are making pastry pies in the middle of Christmas Day. It’s just so alien to me/us.
Merry Christmas‘She’s In Her Apron’ family! Your Christmas dinner looked delicious! This Christmas I didn’t do our traditional Christmas Day dinner. Just in the mood for a change of foods because Christmas dinner is so much like Thanksgiving dinner. So I did a Breakfast Bar! It went over well with my family.. but they were quite surprised because I am all about tradition! ✨🎄♥️
My pumpkin pie was a disaster this year lol. I think filming making it thru me off. Apparently I can't do two things at once 🤪 I make homemade cinnamon rolls every year to eat while we open gifts. My son said they were the best I have made so that made my day. 😁
Don't feel bad for my sweet potato pie from the box was a disaster. Good thing I had chocolate chips cookies to save day. I pray you had a Merry Christmas and God bless.
Love watching your family! I do most of my preparations before Christmas Day so I don’t have as much to prepare on the day except put everything in the oven and make mashed potatoes. Of course I’m at least 25 years older than you so I don’t have your energy! Son in law does the meats and daughters make dessert and casserole. I used the Rhodes yeast rolls this year and they were wonderful! Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas Kimmy and family! I ❤️ the salami rose, I'm stealing that idea! Have a wonderful holiday! Here in New Zealand it was a hot, humid day and I had brunch with my son and daughter in law, we had Fancy Eggs Benedict, then bananas, strawberries and French vanilla ice cream. It was all delicious. Quite different to your traditional American fare.
Merry Christmas. I'm glad your family had a great time. Who found the chill lol I hope you all have a safe and great New Year. love from Edinburgh Scotland X
Covid hit our ENTIRE family so we have yet to get together :( however, when we do, we will all be that much more appreciative of good health and family time!!!
It was just me and my husband on Christmas Eve and Christmas itself. We baked ‘pan de sal’, a Filipino bread roll, and paired it with cheese. I made sweet black beans and paired it with ‘inangit’, a Filipino sticky rice dish. We attended mass on TV on the Eve and baked our hearts away on Christmas Day😊.
Merry Christmas, Kimmy and family!! What a great Christmas special! Our family loves your breakfast casserole btw, I make it every Christmas morning, along with cinnamon rolls in the shape of a Christmas tree. 🎄
My Christmas meal was delicious with a whole chicken in the crockpot, green beans, mashed and potatoes. I bought kings Hawaiian rolls but they were missing come Christmas, which was weird but whatever, I thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas with the love of my life and can’t wait for many more to come! Merry Christmas Hughes Family!
Here in Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada, we had our traditional Christmas turkey dinner with salt beef boiled with potatoes, carrot and turnip with peas pudding and a blueberry pudding and gravy with canned jellied cranberry sauce. For desert we normally have a variety of homemade fruitcake and cookies. Thanks for sharing yours, xo.
It's just my husband and I for Christmas. We kept our meal simple this time, because we ate too much on Thanksgiving and we didn't want to feel that full again. Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your family for this special. Your youngest are getting so big:0)
Your prep work amazes me everytime! Our Christmas eve goes so fast and late untill the night ! This year christmas morning was late brunch of left over tamales pozole eggs bacon !
Merry Christmas Kimmy! You did it Girly! And you did it WELL!!🎄 It’s almost 3am and I just got done rewatching this video. I’m in bed with bronchitis and can’t sleep. I watched this earlier today and enjoyed it, and then was laying in bed feeling yucky and decided to watch your video again. I’m so proud of what a great wife and mom you are! The music you chose for the background was so nice and relaxing! The kids are getting so big and I love seeing Callie (sp?) and her hubby there. Just a beautiful Christmas!! God Bless y’all from down here in Texas! 🤠
Been watching your channel for years! Your kiddos are almost grown! This year, from my school they gave us a choice of meats and I got a boneless ham. My first time ever to glaze a ham. Boy! It is work girl!! That monster ham was 14 pounds. Glazing it every 15 mins. But my grown boys said it was the best ham they have ever ate. Things you do for your family. 😆 Happy New Year to your family.
The idea of freezing the pie filling into a pie plate and then wrapping it up for later is an amazing trick! I was able to quickly make an apple pie Christmas morning without exhausting myself! Thanks Kimmie!!!
Finally got time to watch this. Your Christmas looked wonderful! We had all of our kids and grandkids here for the weekend and it was great. I have been watching you for years and the kids are getting so grown up! You guys are so lucky to be able to live in your little home. I know it is a lot smaller than you are used too but it always looks so homey and cozy. Good job on everything Kimmie!
Page was precious looking & waiting for her stocking. Loved this video. All of your food looked delicious especially the pies. You did an amazing job on your grazing board. We did have some flops at our house this Christmas. Due to leg injury I was unable to stand very long so I was giving my husband directions how to make cherry coke salad . I told him to drain crushed pineapple well or the jello salad would not gel. He thought no need to drain & we ended up with cherry soup.
We never even got out of the bed on Christmas Day. To be totally honest, I don’t know if the dogs even got taken out or if they or the cats were fed. We’ve been so sick, going on three weeks and I barely thought about Christmas dinner. I was too ill to care. Yours looked wonderful. Thank you for sharing this!
I can see you all had a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. I am having the missionaries over for New Years Eve and can't wait to see what 2022 is going to bring. I saw a billboard on the way home from Christmas that said " CORONA VIRUS YOU ARE NOT INVITED TO 2022!!!!! It made my night and I am praying 2022 is good because we are so tired of the yucky years we have been having.
Hot chocolate is always cocoa powder, sugar and milk ( or for us in my family oatbased "milk", our tummen don't like dairy). You can use cream to. If you mix cocoa powder and sugar with real whipped cream you get a mousse.
Merry Christmas for New Zealand. We had a pot luck dinner with family where we all brought our favourite things to eat. This year we had slow roasted pork, roast lamb and chicken with potatoes, salads, roasted carrot and parsnip and roasted green beans. Dessert was tiramisu, passion fruit cheesecake and pavlova with lots of berries. It is always hot for Christmas but we often have elements of English Christmas foods that were brought here generations ago.
Happy Holidays! Thank you for taking the time to share with us and inspire us and to keep it real! I was exhausted and crashed on the 26th! It’s all so much this time of year! Enjoying quiet days now with my daughter at home!
Love the video! Derricks Santa hat was cracking me up. Oh we are a deviled egg family too! In fact after hubs had surgery this fall, and couldn't tolerate much food, deviled eggs was one of the things he could tolerate. lol What a lovely family you have.
I do want to make one more comment. Paige looking at the tree was so precious!! Also, I’m going to try and find those cinnamon rolls. They looked homemade and delicious!! Again Kimmy, you pulled off an amazing Christmas! Hard to believe you were so stressed a few days ago. Just trust yourself, you’re a pro now at get together after being married for awhile and raising your kiddos, while working doing RU-vid! You’ve got it! Be easy on yourself 🥰
Hi Merry Christmas we had a fairly quiet Christmas in Gateshead uk North of England. It was just my Dad and my two grown up daughter we did see friend. We had roast Turkey, Gammon roast and mashed potatoes sproat carrot and parsnips roasted in honey and mustard cranberry sauce pigs in blankets ( in the UK these are small Sausages wrapped in bacon and roasted stuffing but we add sausage meat to the packet of sage and onion stuffing. Trifle and Christmas pudding also made a biscotte cheesecake. Love to I have doubled my size.
Just us and the kids. Chocolate fomdue in the morning, unwrapped presents.had an early supper. We had turkey, mash potatoes ans stuffing. And we made some chocolate Corn Flakes nut balls cookies for desert. My kids favorite. Very simple day. Looked like you had a blessed Christmas.
I was so relieved When Christmas was over! I even cut corners like crazy and it was still overwhelming. And I started early. 😳 oh- pumpkin pie from Costco is excellent!
This time U made my side ahead of time during the Christmas week. I planned for an easy dinner so my back wouldn’t tighten up and give me trouble, but it did. Anyway I made Spiral ham, Mac n cheese, bushes baked beans, and potato salad. Oh and we purchased about 3 dozen pork chili tamales. It was all very good. I almost didn’t clean up the kitchen but I did. I wanted to lay down so bad because of my back getting so tight. But it was a great time with my daughter and her family, my brother and my parents.
It looks like you all had a fantastic Christmas! How great that you all got together on Christmas Eve. Green bean casserole is a favorite here! Everything looked yummy!
Just a note for next year:) You can make the roll dough let it rise, shape then freeze! I let them thaw out overnight in the fridge, bring the rolls to room temp and bake! They turn out just as you make them the day of!
Merry Christmas! Here in the Uk we had king prawn cocktail followed by traditional Christmas dinner with a fruit and cream pavlova instead of Christmas pudding. Then “picky” plates for evening meal.
Hi Kimmy! Fantastic video!! Glad your Christmas was great 😁. The place you went to looked like a lot of fun for everyone. And the food of course looked amazing ☺️. Ours was very low key but wonderful anyway 😁. Hope you’re having a nice day.🎄🕊😊
We didn’t get to the rolls or apple pie 😆 I did do gf/df turkey, sweet potato soufflé, pecan pie and green bean casserole. All those turned out really well for not having gluten or dairy. Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas Kimmy and also your family. I had a wonderful Christmas, I visited 4 missionaries and Elder over for dinner. I made my Crock-Pot green beans, ham, baked bean, and mash yam. We all so had double eggs, cornbread muffins, and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I love the movie you put on in your video the birth of Jesus Christ for I have seen it 6 times, the love of Jesus Christ is everything to me. God bless Kimmy and also your family.❤❤
