@@philipkempbell7174 what the fuck that was Brando , Reeve worked himself to the bone he was all up in harnesses for hours sweating like a pig and was on of the first people in Hollywood to get fit for a super hero role
@@philipkempbell7174 Stop smoking Weed/Pot it makes your brain DUMB. That's why your suffering from DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR. You must be talking about kanye west, eminem, or your other dumb down idol rappers. Or worst you might be talking about yourself.
This movie had me balling so bad when he returned back without his LOVE.. After losing my SON IN 2022, it hit me so hard that I had anxiety attack.. I love Christopher Reeve such an inspiring SUPER human even through his adversities .. His purpose on this earth was a blessing to mankind.. I'd sure take care of him if he was my LOVE..
Wow, did not know he'd come to the UK before & studied theatre etc... That shows his dedication & why he was so good. I'm on a Chris Reeve marathon at the moment & boy, I was, & am now, sooo in love with him. The film, Somewhere In Time, is such a touching and beautifully acted film with gorgeous music. I loved films of that era, they entertained, they didn't preach. He was such a huge talent, so sad what happened to him.
Ellen, Looking back with 20/20 hindsight I'm surprised no one said "Hey you're to big to be on a horse for steeple chase. Your weight will hamper the horse's performance".
Not only was he an awesome person and still an awesome person in all our hearts, but he was one hell of dad to his children and he will always live forever in their hearts. He seem to me to just be your average every day guy that you wouldn't mind hanging out with and talking to. He will live forever in our hearts with his interviews and movies.
So sad that his son William lost both his parents in less than 18 months. William has gone through some terrible losses. His father in 2004, his grandmother (Dana's mother) in 2005 and his mother in 2006. Also, his children with Gae Exton losing their father. Just so very sad.
There's some people that you really miss. Christopher reeve is one of them. He had it all, talent, good looks, and a great personality. Yes he will always be Superman 🙂
What a wonderful man he was who will be missed by everyone , he was a brilliant actor and played in other films too , I was so devastated when I heard about his accident , I could not believe when I think of this strong man to suddenly being in a wheel chair for the rest of his life with out being able to move , of course if this did not happen I think he would of lived a right old age because he was fit and healthy , his poor family must of suffered a lot. May god bless u supper man with all the love in the word for u , because that is what he was , a wonderful amazing person. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I notice the little things when watching clips. In the opening -- 0:25, how "thanks" naturally rolls out when he finishes. I don't think he meant to say it, it just flowed out. It just shows his true character, humility, and sense of accomodating hospitality.
He definitely was Superman. Love how he did his trade by putting the hard work in saving his money up and coming over to Britain to study the theatre actors.
As much as he ridiculed the existence of “ superman” as portrayed in the original movie or in comic books since he was created, christopher reeves never suspected that he actually was a real life, living breathing superman. In his real life, there are more than a few parallels with the comic book superman that demonstrate that and it is uncanny. Christopher Reeves lived his personal life more like “ superman” than he would of liked to admit. He truly was and will always be the real, original superman. Rip Christopher.
Every director/writer attempting to make/write a Superman film nowadays, should listen to Christopher Reeve talk about the character in this interview. Wow.... the insight on the guy! And he was not even 30!! 3:09
I think he was the best personification of the idea of superman. He is right. Superman is a nice idea and I think it needs more than superpower to be superman.
I have a hypothesis that there are no real people disliking many of the videos on youtube. Some automated function is set up to keep any video from getting nothing but positive responses… I do not have the “why” figured out, yet. ;-)
What a beautiful interview ❤ he's so cute, funny adorable and incredibly warm and charming. I love all his films and while some are not the best he makes them worth watching. My favourite of his happens to be Deathtrap but I grew up watching Superman and between Superman and Clark Kent I like Clark the most bc as Christopher said he is definitely more relatable. I can't get enough of Chris and I'm glad I'm not alone in that. ♥️♥️♥️ though I do wish he was still here with us.
he was in London to basically re film Superman 2.they had originally done most of the second part while making the original.however, due to a conflict between producer and director(who was subsequently fired) most of the original shooting of part 2 was scrapped.a new director was hired(Richard Lester of Beatles fame) and most of what was in 2 was a result of his efforts.
He turned down american gigolo. The movie that made richard gere a star. This must have been such a great year for him. Superman was a smash hes in his early 20s & his long term partner he met in london had their first son Matthew. And hes famous & good looking & smart went to an ivy league college & 1 year out of julliard hes cast in a movie as an international star. It's like a star was over his head , that's why it was so shocking & ironic the guy who played the man of steel who could fly wound up with almost the most serious spinal chord injury u could have breaking the c2 vertebrae. I cant imagine if u break the c1 u probably cant even turn ur head. No joke that is everyone worst nightmare I used to be ok riding horses & bc this happened I wont ride one or let me young kids. I wont ever dive off a board or dive into water period . I wont let my son play football ever. His injury bc I was such a fan scares me about paralysis. I know their are so many ways it can happen to anyone without knowing when or why but I wont do anything that can remotely hurt my neck. I really pray they find a cure. I had hoped chris would find one b4 he passed away. How cruel is life his wife dana passed 18 months later from lung cancer & she never smoked.
Surprisingly, the two most significant romantic relationships this devastatingly handsome man had were with (in my opinion) really ordinary-looking women. They were kind of pretty, but nothing special, and yet he was able to see beyond that.
Shannonm75 the metropolis street battle was filmed on the backlot at pinewood. The base of Niagara Falls where Lois jumps in was filmed at Pinewood as well. Only Superman The Movie metropolis scenes were filmed in NYC. I believe the alley mugging scene was filmed at pinewood too.
What's up with his accent? Sounds put on to me.. Perhaps in attempt sound ultra clear/immaculate (to coincide with him being Superman maybe?!). Or this just what natural 'posh American' sounds like?
I know right? Its the second time David Prowse got the shaft. He didn't get credit for being Darth Vader in Star Wars either. Instead the guy who lent the voice got all the kudos. According to the press that aggravated Prowse just a little bit.
I heard him give David Credit in another interview perhaps he was trying to answer the interviewer question more directly. Also, he put in the hours at the gym David didn’t lift the weights for him.
@@bratton79 David Prowse received sole credit for Star Wars in 1977. The voice actor was not credited at all. This only changed after The Empire Strikes Back and later Special editions of A NEW HOPE I believe. I remember David Prowse on talk shows in the UK when Return of the Jedi came out. James Earl Jones was never mentioned in those interviews.
0:46 "what did you enjoy most about being a man". she's so girly, I'm amazed people actually believed this was a man--the hourglass figure, the tiny ears, tiny wrists, girly arms, small mouth, lack of chest or beard hair, and pointy chin. There's just absolutely nothing manly about Chris Top Her
