Michael Omartian is one of the great producers in American music. His piano work is incredibly beautiful and majestic!!

It's interesting to hear about the early days of Christopher Cross. His initial album and Another Page are my favourites, as they have some nice vocal sections. I will always buy Christopher Cross albums. I think he is quite unique. Perhaps we could get an interview with him at some stage.

Albert, that's an idea. I tried to get Christopher a few years ago but heard nothing but our channel has gained 3 times more subs since then so maybe I'll try now. Thanks for the suggestions and watching this video...John

Indeed, 'unique' he was, Albert. 'Sailing' was beautifully crafted/recorded. In my early teens when it came out and immediately recognized it as genuinely inspired.

I like Michael's early Christian soft rock (kinda disco). Check out Adam Again, he wasn't always just a producer.

I think Michael Omartian plays on "Here At The Western World" and "Bad Sneakers" by Steely Dan as well as Donald Fagen's "The Nightfly" LP.

I really identify with your comment about 'if so and so' s name was on the album cover, you would be interested in hearing it ' I grew up liking singers, but later I realized it was the song crafting, production value, arrangements and playing that really drew me in. Today, I'm as much of more of a fan of the creator as I am the face of the music. And it's so cool when you find more music by these creators that maybe didn't have a famous face on it but every bit is as good as the stuff you liked originally. Olivia Newton-John is a perfect example,. LOVED everything about her. First crush at age 4. Grew up on her early country music, Grease, Physical, and xanadu. But in my twenties I finally dug into John Farrar and it's like a light went off. I'm like, THAT'S why I like her stuff. (btw, try and get John Farrar if you can. He was a part of the Shadows scene before coming to the USA.. Long, storied, history and a great artist and producer and songwriter and player. Oh, and he asked Luke to play that killer guitar solo on Physical. So there's that too. 😂

I think Cross told Mo Austin that Omartian could produce his album if he got Larry Carlton to play on it! He did!

As a rock piano player, Michael Omartian has a unique style which I try to add to my own playing. I try.

I believe Omartian’s ‘74 album on ABC/Dunhill, White Horse, is a better album than anything he produced.

I know it's a thing for you but it's really annoying when you cut these interviews into sound bits. Too Hollywood and we are living in the age of J Rogen. We don't have the time to search through your catalogue to put the whole interview together. IMO :)
