Yes you can, audio in Ableton (no overbridge for Octatrack) or a simple zoom h4n will do the job also. :)

@@H4Z3 definitely get the digitakt if you don't own other hardware. The octatrack is more complex and really shines when combined with other hardware

I am thinking of purchasing the OT as the first and only machine of my set up...and learn. But also wondering whether to purchase the Digitakt at the same time: What would be the added value to pair the DK to the Octa? The idea would be to use the DK as drum when playing samples effect with the OT: does it make sense? With 2 new machines at the same time may be too challenging! Thanks

The DT and OT have a very different workflow and muscle-memory/workflow might not translate perfectly. I'd try to buy one machine first and learn it inside out. You'll have to practice a ton before your skill becomes less of a limitation than your equipment.

So octa can perform as a standalone as a groovebox? This vs the rytm as standalones?

It can totally be used as a standalone, it normally is the brain centerpiece of a set up, that will send clock to the rest of hardware. Analog Rytm is a great companion for the Octatrack,

Quiero comprar un sequenciador / sampler. Pero no sé si el digitone, digitrakt, toraiz sp 16, etc. Me encantan los sonidos techno industriales. It would go well together. That way you delegate drum tasks to Digitakt and melodic stuff to Octa. Send Digitakt’s output into Octa input for further processing/mangling. I would personally first buy Octatrack, and then if I felt limited by only 8 tracks for the whole instrumentation, then add a drum machine or a synth or both.. Small steps first is the best way.

I can not see a big difference to the OT MK 1. Where is the reason to pay another 1.500 € if you have the MK 1? Even why they do not realize a common big sample pool for all patterns and a different sample choices per pattern instead only for 4 parts?

No point in buying the mk2 if you already have the mk1, wait until the mk3 comes out, Elektron has only evolved the "box" of all it's elektron gear but internal they are basically the same.

@@kolyazeoli6793 meh yeah i know i was just curious if it can be as a standalone machine also. Yet sampling seems too much fuss i will stick to my rytm and tanzbar all out on a tape recorder. But i can see the reasoning of the sampler for better manipulation of your project and flawless control. I dont see the reasoning for that high cost...

You know the genre is not the kind that grabs me normally but I liked this quite a bit. I think the video does a great job at showcasing the OT2 and its sound quality. If the OT2 had Overbridge I would probably own one, but it is certain that it will not get that. Maybe the next iteration will be an “Octatakt”or something.

You can do everything with the OT, but the reverb is more beautiful on the DGT

Audio Engine/Summing engine on digi also seems to be magic. Everything sounds good. You feel that on new octatrack too?

I would have preferred the interface of the digitakt on the new octatrack, there is no difference between MK1 and MK2, it's a little sad

Is T5 playing on a syncopated rhythm or a odd number time signature against the main 4/4 beat? I don't know enough about the OT to glean that. Great stuff!

Station 2Station could be that, could be an LFO set to that triplet rhythm, or could be played in like that. With the OT there are always multiple ways to get a result.

I’m guessing it’s an lfo because the track is flashing on 1/4 notes
