Christopher Lee Remembers working with Boris Karloff 1991

This is a revised version with many more pictures added.
I shot this footage of Christopher Lee in 1991, I also shot footage of Boris's wife Evie Karloff (she kindly let us use many stills of Boris from her albums) I also have footage Stefanie Powers of her days working with Boris. I formed a Production Company called 'The Mask Corporation' with three other colleagues intending to get finance to produce a 10 part TV documentary of Boris Karloff called " The Gentle Monster" although there was a lot of interest in the project we could not get funding for the series! This footage has sat on the shelf for 27 years! I finally cut this edit this week.

I came across a British detective show starring Boris Karlov ad Colonel March of Scotland Yard. His acting is supurb and of course that wonderful voice and diction. Karlov develops Colonel March as a kindly but ascerbic policeman . I highly recommend the show. And Christopher Lee .Another great actor with a spectacular voice.

These are actors, true actors not some youtube wannabes they struggle to get the parts, suffered the act, and did not regret it. You get actors today who are paid way more than these classic actors would see and complain about an political issue, or didn't like each other on set. I understand the film industry will slave drive you, but these guys didn't have much covering them and they endur it in my opinion(and hopefully be a future actor someday) we can never be as great as these retired actors.

These interviews are simply amazing. A great personal look at how our favorites felt about each other and their personal memories. Just fascinating!! Thank you for sharing this great time capsule of one movie legend from the perspective of another film legend!! William Henry Pratt lives on!!

Great stuff ! THANKS so much for sharing with us ! What a wonderfully entertaining and informative interview ! The late great Mr Lee was not only a gifted actor but an incredibly articulate, intelligent, perceptive & thoughtful gentleman. And what a voice....I could listen to him all day long...and all night long too for that matter ! You've made my day, my week & my weekend ! CHEERS !! :-)

Dear Mr Rough (and any other experts), being a fan of Boris, Chris Lee as well as Peter, Vincent, Hammer, Amicus etc and seeing that you are an expert in adverts can you tell me anything about the way these classic horror films would have been advertised on ITV at the time (and I'm presuming they were). How long did they last for in seconds, time of day shown and would they have been much different to the US tv spots. I was born in 1970 so missed out - the earliest horror film trailer I can remember seeing on ITV was for The Manitou (around 1978). Many thanks, all the best :)

@@mackenzierough No worries mate, I am in Lincolnshire and back then had choice of Yorkshire TV or ATV/Central. @@mackenzierough Thanks for The Haunting tv spot link - I hadn't seen it before. One thing I find interesting regarding horror movies from the 60s & 70s is when you compare the actual cinema trailers for the UK and US markets - the UK ones played on the lurid aspects of the film and the big certificate X and the US treated them as kids material - they cut Hammer's Vampire Circus by many minutes for example to obtain a PG rating. Thanks again :)

Dear Mackenzie, This is very interesting indeed. Apart from Stefanie Powers and Evie - did you film any other interviews for the abandoned Karloff doc? (I'm in the middle making a doc on Karloff myself (Boris Karloff: The Man Behind the Monster) and would be interested in seeing any other interviews with BK associates who are no longer with us) Look forward to hearing from you.

Ive seen lots of interveiws of Lee and he states the ruddy obvious in all of them..you always think during them like here,that some meaty revelation is on the way but at the end of it all you feel duh.....wot did I learn there...lol
