Very comprehensive review Chris and super cool to see you back at it. This is a bit disappointing. Never realized the strange moonphase setting mechanism goes counter-clockwise. Also I think the reason why the intermediate phases look off despite the overall cycle being correctly calibrated is due to the incorrect geometry. Since the moon is a ball, the curvature of the boundary between the part that is illuminated by the sun and the part that is not varies with perspective. So, close to the new moon, the 'day/night boundary' on the moon is almost as curved as the moon itself, but closer to half moon it is almost straight. You can never replicate this with a fixed curvature 'shade' the moon moves under on the dial. And I do agree with you, the cartoony stars cheapen the aesthetic. This could have also worked with a simple glossy background if they didn't want to go for a more realistic looking star background. Your review really is a gem for people that would be interested in this watch. It's details like this that are hard to spot from a website.
Thanks Andrei! Really appreciate it. This is the first moon phase that I have had and on first quarter with this one the curve is wrong until it reaches half way and the left side is correct as the moon goes from new moon to last quarter but after that it’s wrong again. Not sure how other moon phase watches execute this well but this one, cool as it is, falls a little flat for those reasons I mentioned, for a 3 grand offering anyways
Ive seen this one a few times now I'm still not sold on it just a bit gimmicky for me. Then there's the guys name written on the dial....I mean be proud of your brand by all means but give us a logo instead 😆 Good in depth vid as always matey.👍
I think if they took away the fake stars on the dial and added an actual image of the night sky stars it might make it less gimmicky in your words, def makes it less elegant. Thanks m8!
Impressive piece! Correct size as well. A bit expensive to be a CW watch but I guess it is kind of “worthy” based in the complications and quality built.
Yeah this one isn't cheap, I think if it did a better job accuracy wise on the moon phase I would consider it, but not something you buy every month or even every year that's for sure. I think I would spend my 3 grand on something else after having had this one for a month
That's fair blue, I do think it might be a tad over priced but certainly not that much so considering the fact that it is a true moonphase watch and a modded swiss automatic movement customized for the watch, but yeah, pricey, personally I would put my 3 grand (which I am going to do) toward a Tudor or Brietling, trying to save up for one of those
I can attest that the moon phase is out of sequence a little, though not entirely. Over two cycles that I had it, it was fairly accurate at the new moon stage and full moon, but the inbetween, the waning gibbous and the other, not so accurate which was as noted a little dissapointing given the price
I use music from the RU-vid studio app and a friend of mine Adrian sales from the channel somewhere in time watch reviews gave me the music for the end part of my video
