we only have capcom to blame for people's crazy expectations for fighting game roster sizes. Honestly, crossover games standards got set by them. Damn you hindsight!! A sprite dump fighting game turned into your own achilles heel. They can never live up to that roster number again. DBZ (161 with tons of throwaway characters and clone characters/moves) and Smash (currently at 73 with some clones/echoes with arguable differences) just casually destroy that old 56 playable character roster size and people want even more~ granted the amount off depth in these games moveset wise is less than that of a sprite, the production value behind each character easily beats the old sprites of MvC2... though animation can be argued a bit more considering the large difference behind sprite and 3d model work in animation... what was I talking about? .-.

I mean, I’m not sure if Sakurai is counting Echo fighters as “new characters”, since he’s kinda treating them like small additions off of existing fighters - and seeing as how their reveals aren’t that hyped up. I think they’re basically easy add ins of characters that people want in Smash, without having to make unique move sets for them - just cus it’d take a lot more time to produce unique move sets. Plus, seeing that you can either have echos have their separate slots or be apart of the fighters portrait in the select screen, it’s kinda as if they’re apart of an already existing character. If that’s the case, bring in more echofighters! I don’t care if it’s freaking Mr. L as a Luigi echo, just add as many characters as you can, Sakurai!

Sakurai said he was hoping we weren't expecting too many new fighters, not that he wasn't adding any, knowing the madman he is he was probably using wordplay to trick us into it.

Agreed, honestly looking more at what we have so far is what people should be valuing but nothing is wrong with speculation for potential content yet to come. Certain characters getting deconfirmed by being used as other assets in the game is understandably disheartening but people need to get over it (talking to the waluigi fans) i'm just imagining a special mode that lets you control those almost characters called assist trophies. They've been getting pretty elaborate with what they can do, mostly the Ko-able ones have enough attacks of their own to warrant a game mode for a side scrolling beat em up arcade game.

Luckily, since money wasn't a factor and hand me downs from relatives/ dad winning company raffles and sales contests netted some nice game consoles for basically free 'tickets to a vacation in the Bahamas? Nah imma get my kids an N64', dads the best, mom bought the new games though when they came out with her part time job money from the nursing home or we rented from a family owned video game company for NES and SNES games. We had a hand me down gameboy and eventually a gameboy color that we got as gifts from my grandma (mom still bought the games) We never rented or bought any games for the Sega genisis or Saturn because our cousins library of games for them was extra extensive when they gave it to our family... When 3D was the standard we went to Blockbuster with their crappy rental program for N64 and playstation games (we'd bring the games to our best friends house since he owned a playstation). Gameboy Advanced was fun for sure, I think my mom got us it after she busted mine against a wall as a weapon to hit my brother with (she thought it was his, the cheeky little jerk XD) Loved the Playstation 2 to death, easily our most played system for my brother and I. Never owned the Dreamcast though. Our favorite cousin had it and we'd go to their house to play it on the weekends or when our aunt would keep us over after church on sundays since she'd be the one to pick us up from there. My moms close nit family is always convenient Since everyone lived in the same town still. No Xbox but we got to have our cousins when he left it at grandmas and we played plenty in summers at family reunions with our favorite cousins from our dads side... No PS3 (though my brother sold stuff to get one from a friend with a small amount of games) I traded our gamecube for a Vita (my dad threw it out the next day by accident lol, never got to even play it)...shoot the first home gaming console in our household that was actually purchased with money by my parents was the Nintendo Wii and DS for my sister. That wasn't until my... junior year of highschool? Or was it Sophomore? Wait... why am I even explaining myself? It's not like I matter XD Though I'm barely a gamer these days and dabble with an mmo or sim game from time to time. Spore creature creating and playing Wakfu casually is fine enough. Shoot I discarded my "gamer title" once I basically skipped three console generations. PS4,WiiU,XBOX360 and XBOX 1, played them all at friends houses and at tournaments and club meetings but never owned them... Heck, I bought a 3DS with the newer animal crossing game for my sister when it came out. That was like six years ago? Now I own a nintendo Switch that I just couldn't *not* buy. I haven't gotten a chance to play games from Nintendo in a while these days so it was a good investment.
