When you have the problem that your HP 11 G5 Chromebook will only work when plugged in and doesn't show the battery icon or level on screen this is normally a very simple issue and simple fix
this video shows you how to take apart the case on the Chromebook and reattach the cable that has come loose. This a is a very common fault with this model.
Also learning this will help you solve other issues with similar models

I noticed a days ago that the battery icon of my chromebook disappeared. Then everytime I charge it just kept on blinking until the other day it was totally shutdown. I really don't know what to do until I watched this today..I'm gonna try this.. Thankz

If the battery icon has disapeared it means the battery cable is disconnected . If when you plug in your charger it's there but flashing or not charging it's a battery fault. Both are simple fixes

@social8butterfly kylie if it's a school owned device you should not fix it yourself. Contact your school. Tell them the issue and device and they will fix or replace the Chromebook. If you attempt to repair it yourself you are more likely to break it even more or lose parts while doing the repair. The repair is the schools job.

Sir I have a hp Chromebook . Coffee had spill on it. First it was showing white screen I unplugged the lcd and then plugged it back . Lights disappeared . After 10 days I turned the charger and suddenly the Power lights came . The issue is that when I opened it and hold the power button it seems as if it is trying to open but not able to do . What do you think is there problem in motherboard or the lcd cable? Psl reply pls

hp chromebook 11 g4 is the same to me not showing the icon of the battery and if i unplug the charger it turns off if i pluged the charger it gonna be on

The answers pretty simple. The school owns your chromebook so should be the one doing the repairs . If you make a mistake it means you have broken it. Get intouch with the school , report your issue and I'm sure they'll fix it. You could send them the link to this video if you want as an example. But I would advise to let the school fix any faults or issues.

This didn’t work for some reason. I unplugged and replugged every but it still only turns on when plugged. And it was never blinking my icon just disappeared and only turns on when plugged in

If it is an HP it will be very simillar to this. This problem is common across most Chromebook models so the answer is maybe. But makes like dell, Acer etc are slightly dif so might not be as easy or the same issue. Which model do you have ?!

Iv never worked on a Lenovo. But I'd have a go and see if it's settup the same way. If it is you can Def fix it yourself.

Does it work on an 11 G4, cuz my Chromebook is an 11 G4.

It should. If the battery is not showing most of the time it will be that it is just disconnected. On rare occasions it might be a full battery failure and needs replaced but norm the battery will show and just not charge/retain properly if it is filling . Good luck

Yeah , a lot of Chromebooks have the same issue. Just the display cable working loose. Hope it works

Does this work on the hp chromebook 14?

Hey, I would guess yes. A lot of the hp Chromebooks of the same age had this issue. The newer models are designed dif and have extra holders and tape to stop it happening . I think this technique would work on the 14 as well. Good luck
