@@lazycarper yes you can’ there is other ways i just use adblink from a windows computer to send the apk across and it installs straight to the device on the fly also play store comes included 👍🏻

Unless you upgrade to a 4k tv, there's no point upgrading to the 4k chromecast, you still will only be viewing at the tv resolution of 1080p and no more, upgrading to a 4k smart tv and if you want you can use the 4k chromecast because of it's features ,. Resolution Up to 4K HDR, 60 FPS. Video formats Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG 1 Audio formats Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos via HDMI passthrough. Connectivity Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 GHz/5 GHz), Bluetooth® plus 8gigs of storage. There are other features. The bottom line is you get the 4k because you want to view programs that display up to 4k 60fps on 4k tv's. In your case HD chromecast is all you need

No you can't obviously. That's the whole point of the HD version. It only goes up to 1080P as it says on the box. So they putslightly less in the hardware department CPU/RAM compared to the actual 4K one and that's your lower pricepoint. You can see it in his video where he shows the bitrate/resolution selector in youtube, the HD one only goes up to 1080P.

@@NL0Gwenster well just because the device only outputs maximum 1080p doesn't mean that it isn't capable of downloading the stream at higher res. For example, on a PC you can select to watch a video at 4k even though you are watching it on a 1080p monitor.

I think they both perform well bud. It’s more personal preference, if you prefer Amazon launcher or Google TV layout. 🍻

@@choppedncut79cutlass i own both and have no problem installing apks from 3rd party apps on the 4k. cant do it with the HD.. others having the same problem. googles response is that it's a bug.

@@rgeisert maybe I misunderstood but you have to add a program that add the ability to have something to install from unknown sources

Downloader for example or one of the file server apps forgot the names but they have the code to install apps some RU-vidrs used them for a bit like troypoint

@@choppedncut79cutlass yes, like downloader or file manager. I just found out that the 4K also has the same issue if you upgrade to Android 12. I'm on Android 10.

I have 2 for different rooms on 2 HD TVs. We like them a lot.

The advantage is it's a lot cheaper if you want it in multiple rooms.

@saimgamer6220 yep, however sometimes when you turn it on again you'll have to reconnect it to the wifi, just turn off the wifi settings then it just connects again. For its price though I think its worth it

RAM has nothing to do with what you describe, plus HD needs less RAM than 4k, your Statement is completely invalid.

Actually the hd has 300 mbps of storage because it has 1.5 ram.

The HD version works pretty much as good. Just the likes of max 1080p resolution and different processor bud. 🍻

​​​@@mihailgeceski4945 actually the hd model streams in hdr but not 4k. It supports AV1 video codec which the 4k model doesn't have which gives better compression which upscale picture quality . This link shows spec is hdr, hdr+10 and hlg

4K version has more RAM, so you could potentially run more demanding apps on it than the HD version, even if only displaying in HD.
