Did the Chromecast casting icon disappear or is missing from one the apps like RU-vid, Netflix, etc? Try these five possible steps and please comment which one worked for you.
This works on both Chromecast 1st & 2nd generation as well as for iPhone & Android smartphones.
1- Make sure your Google Chromecast and phone is on the same wifi network. Also make sure you are on same bandwidth. For instance your Chromecast may be on the 2.4gz (you know its on 2.4gz you only see your wifi network name and if you are on 5gz then 5gz will be at the end of your wifi network name) but your phone is connected to the 5gz network and vice versa. At times this will be the issue.
2- Close your app then reopen. Make sure you watch how to close it.
3- Reboot your modem/router. Unplug it, wait 10 seconds then plug it back in then check your phone.
4- Reboot Chromecast. Unplug the USB part for 10 seconds then plug back in and then check your phone.
5- Factory Reset back to original settings. You need to press and hold that little button on Chromecast for 10-15 seconds then proceed to the setup process: • How to Setup Chromecas...

Ive never had to buy anything for chromecast and i could send as many videos as i pleased directly to my ps4 and ps3. And now its just gone

Thanks. #1 worked for me. I disabled the 2.4 Ghz radio on my ISP modem and only left the 5 Ghz enabled. Work like a charm.

I literally tried everything through google. Restart the chrome cast, the router, even did a factory reset and honestly every stupid little thing I read and the little icon came back halfway through your video. I don’t know what type of black magic this is cause all the steps you said did nothing for me but I guess the video itself is what helped lmao

*Galaxy S8+ how to get the Casting Icon back*...swipe down from top... where the "=" is at top, swipe down again to open more fully the Quick Use Grid.. where it has Wi-Fi, Sound, Bluetooth, Rotate buttons etc... *swipe from the right side of the screen to the left side, in the grid part..* now, tap *Smart View* this new label acts just like Mirroring did prior. Locate your device you want to cast to... in my case my Google Home device. and now you ate good to go.. can cast you audio from YT onto whatever. Hope that helps anyone having trouble. *feel free to make a video on this* it was frustrating when I couldn't figure it out, but your video was the only one that got me on the right track.

That's very cool, just checked and you can do this with the note 8 as well. However this is completely different, this is basic screen mirroring and can be done on devices other than Chromecast and can be annoying if you keep getting notifications or messages it'll just ruin the experience for me personally. So just to clarify, screen mirroring and casting to a Chromecast are 2 different things.

Factory reset five times reset my router three times hard reset the Chromecast three times. Didn't work. Unplugged everything for five minutes which worked.

Wooohu... it worked!!!! I’ve been trying all sorts of different things like downloading same apps and it didn’t work and finally I’ve unplugged my cromecast out of tv and unplugged it out of power socket snd waited for about a minute then I plugged it back into TV and power socket and it finally worked.... I wish I’ve seen your video right away and didn’t waist all everything trying to get my cast button back on the RU-vid videos... thanks x 100😀😀😀

Or to factory reset your Chromecast you can also do that through the Google home application by tapping the icon all the way to the very top right hand side then you find your Chromecast on that menu and through there you can factory reset

problem with VRT-NU on small smartphone 4" screen (Androïd 6.0), the casting icon does not appear,... but it appears for all other ChromeCast applications Auvio, RTLPlay, etc... I think this is a problem related to the way people of VRT have developed their responsive design application.... with a 7" tablet it worked.

Hello I was using chromecast for two years. Recently I had problem using with chromecast. I am able to hear audio and not able to see video. I tried reset. Sometimes it shows that chrome cast and mobile phone are not connected on same network.

And when none of these works what i should i do? Or is it the chromecast device that needs to be replaced? It worked perfectly for 3 days and then 2 hours without using it (i was in the middle of a show on netflix) and the icon is gone in every app and i cant cast anything. Thanks for answering
