A bit related but I met Joshua Bassett once. I met him while he was at the LA Dream Center planning for that walking fundraiser he did. He was genuinely the sweetest person on the planet. The whole time he just kept talking about all sorts of stuff (MrBeast, Kim K, etc. We were talking about how money can change the world for reference. We also talked a whole lot about the Dream Center iteself and asked me about the volunteering I was doing there and how that was going and like where I was volunteering and stuff. So cool). We spoke for probably 20 minutes and just chatted. I eventually had to go so I tried to leave but but he just kept talking so I was late for where I had to be since the conversation just kept going and going!! It was so sweet. Absolutely amazing experience.

personally, my two cents is that olivia ABSOLUTELY should have stepped in. i understand she was angry but the fact that she let the hate go on and get so extreme will never sit right with me idk. and i do think it was in fact her responsibility to try to control her fans. taylor swift, someone olivia openly looks up to, does this often and makes it her priority when she releases music. to be clear, im not "demonizing" olivia. im a big fan of her. someone can make massive mistakes in their past and still be supported to an extent, and thats what her being silent was. a *MASSIVE* mistake. i think that she should still be held accountable, but not persecuted.

Anytime this is brought up it physically pains me because as someone who’s been a carpenter since 2015, who was just enjoying being in this somewhat small and peaceful fandom, to have watched her slowly grow musically, vocally and in her acting to only have this hate train suddenly just come straight towards her was awful. I've been in the Sabrina train for 7 years I don't know where y'all have been. I've been a fan of her since Girl Meets World and I've been rooting for her ever since.

i had never heard of any of the people involved until driver's license came out, so as an (self-described) objective third party, what bugged me the most was how much olivia got hit with copy-right infringements on her album when it came out on songs that honestly didn't sound that much like what she was allegedly copying. not to come for anyone's fave, but i remember both taylor and paramore and possibly others sued her and it really just felt like a bunch of big powerful musicians were coming for a really young artist who just put out her first album and wanted to avoid controversy and just let them take credit so she wouldn't get anymore heat. i get that they're all bagillionares and olivia certainly doesn't need those royalties to survive, i'm just talking about the principle here. drama and love-triangles aside, olivia was seriously wronged by the industry when the album came out and was 100% taken advantage of and it was honestly so scummy. i think this happened with another song on her new album. she's not some serial copier, i think it's just that a lot of pop music sounds similar.
