This is the most amazing aspect to Tiny Desk Concerts, it allows you to discover new music in the most scaled down, organically raw way. Chronix will now be in rotation on my playlist. I’m now a new fan!
As a Jamaican this puts such a huge smile on my face to see artist like Chronixx featured on NPR. This brother’s music is a breath of fresh air. The band and back up singer is also on a whole other level. Nuff respect family.
I found reggae to be the most difficult music to play. The irony is the melody is so simple but soul and feeling are necessary for all the elements to come together and make sense... peace to these brothas for killing this jam sess...
you white..???..they not jammin thats their original music...what kind of...thats roots earthy vibes going on there...is either you have it or you dont.
So I didn't know of chronixx until I spent some time in Jamaica. This guy is an absolute legend. From his skill, to his style, to discovering and building up Koffee. Best talent Jamaica has seen since Bob. Respect
I feel so blessed as a Jamaican to see Another Jamaican being great🇯🇲🇯🇲💪🏾🔥. It brings me great joy to see Chronixx and Jr gong Marley performing on NPR💪🏾🇯🇲ONE LOVE🇯🇲OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE 🇯🇲💪🏾❤️
The only music that plays to the heart and not the brain. The sounds of reggae is the music of the Devine. It will comfort and uplift the oppressed around the world. In the end, it will show that reggae music has been the soundtrack of liberation from evil. Blessings to my country man Chornixx.
When I come across new music that I like, regardless of the colour of the skin on the people playing it, I just listen to it. I find the visual tag of the musicians often tags them to genres, and that, I think, has had a negative effect upon the music itself. America has coined a phrase that I find deeply offensive, I think it's called, "Cultural Misappropriation". If it's misappropriated, then presumably you can't hear any difference between donor Culture and receiving (other cultural) misapprpriator. The greatest blues musicians of the early 1950's would turn in their graves to hear musicians argue ownership of a musical style or, genre, or type of sound. There are musicians in all ethnic races, and all ethnic races have musicians with interest in the music of others. Those who play a type of music best, will inevitably float to the top. That's just music, it's not cultural, its just difficult. It (i.e. Music) sounds shit if a bad player slaughters it and it sounds like a window to heaven when played by an adept. Also, refering to colours as beautiful is misappropriation of colour. Black is the absence or antithesis of colour. What it certainly isn't (in a colour setting rather than as a skin-tone) is "Beautiful". People are never black as far as I can see, and differentiating them is usuallu hapless at best and down-right racist at worst. People have names, so why refer to them as a (often very imprecise) skin colour?
JayoJay and where do you think hip hop got it's influences from? Do your homework before you open your mouth. No one in NY would of heard nothing if it wasn't for Jamaican sound system culture
JayoJay but the main comment said nothing about hip hop he was referring to reggae music but who cares its all good music just don't confuse reggae with hip hop
Jay W Yes! That background vocal adds a necessary complexity! It's delicate and delicious. This entire performance is making Tuesday morning beautiful rn.
Chronixx is so talented, amazing song writer, can sing and rap in his own style so proficiently, this is a rare thing in all genres, he is a living legend -- everything flows so naturally. He's one of my favorite artists right now and Reggae isn't even my main style of music, but it is a strong spiritual root to my music consciousness. Thanks for bringing Chronixx, great lion heart. True reggae music is so special.
Honestly these are all really great musicians. Nobdoy was mentionin that enough. The lead singers doing really cool stuff i been signing to thils video a lot. The drum set, keys, guitars, hand percussion.. This whole bands real tight
A kongo bredda deh ‘ave the perfect decorative voic Fi Chronixx style...also being that he appears to be an extrovert it’s a perfect balance with Chronixx innocence and shyness. Gudd vibes ‘mongst dem iyah.
I can't even see the lead singer, even though he's in focus and in the center of the frame... All I can focus on is how much fun percussion/backup vocals is having.
Wow -- Chronixx and the Zinkfence band have my American born sons loving reggae...they walk around the house humming "Spanish Town Rockin"...wow...wow..wow...
We were taught that in school in Jamaica , we all know this....There are some tribes from Benin and Nigeria , so can see the difference in the way they behave..
It's all about music here! why alway color must be involved? and black people go cry for equality, and they're the most recist people on Earth!! BTW I'm black, before you start attacking white people!
I was looking for a female backup singer, before I realizes it was the bongo player signing falsetto. Wow! I'm definitely checking these guys out when they come to town.
not everybody in Jamaica smoke weed and there is no need to. Growing the dread is to show your commitment to the movement. I hate when foreigners try to make everything we do about smoking weed. I just dilutes the effort of a true artists
@@yazimme5141 he drank beer b4.. even though he said in an interview that he haven't drink a day in his life. I've been around Chronixx duh hush yuh believe everything u heard or saw in the media mouth
Normally Chronixx hits those high notes himself but his voice is clearly not 100% during this performance.... his percussionist really stepped up for him!!
I can’t believe there weren’t that many people in the crowd., I would be having the time of my life if i was in there 😭😭 big up to Chronixx and the ones bringing those good vibrations 🌸
So... we all remember reggae music, right? Chronixx, I Wayne and some other few still doing real reggae, with da real message. Rembember: from a little island called Jamaica reggae music and Rasta culture was spread to the world. This music arrived in every corner of the planet and everybody learn to skunk. Now it's time to learn the mean of ONE LOVE concept. World need it. World need us. Irie!
One of my favorite things about tiny desk is watching the musicians (instrumentalists) just vibing, feeling the music and clearly having a great time. My man on the bongos is giving me life :) Loved this... Chronixx is fantastic.
