I just came from a comment of yours on a Smooth McGroove video, I said "Hey, this guy's verified, I'm gonna check his channel" >Finds a metal cover of my favorite song of Chrono Trigger >16 minutes ago You won a subscriber
I always admire your mixing. Your individual guitar patches are not too heavy on it's own, but you're still able to make the whole mix both mellow and heavy at the same time. Great job dude!
So many covers fail to grasp the essence of the original, but you nailed it with this one and intensified it ten fold. Great improvement of your first attempt.
It can be hard to go back and rework a cover you already did. But this? This is God-Tier work as always. Absolutely incredible cover and equally bad ass cinematography. Never stop doing you, Rich.
Ordinarily I would not endorse changing anything about this tune, as it is already perfect, but man...incredible work. You managed to add heaviness without losing any of that painful beauty of the original.
Brutally delicious. The original was actually one of my favorite tunes of yours (or anyone's), despite the production issues, and you went and cleaned it up /and made it even better/. And the cinematography (I guess that applies?) brings it all together in an awesome way. I love your stuff. Rock on.
Didn't think you could put such a chill track to metal and it still be chill and heavy AF. This used to be my go-to on loop if I needed to take a time-out from the game or just in general. Bravo good sir, completely epic!
I too remember that first time I arrived in Zeal and heard Corridors of Time. It quickly became and has remained one of my favorite themes of all time. When I saw this video, I knew I had to watch it and listen to it. I came into it with very high hopes and really high standards because I love the original so much, and I think you'll be pleased to hear that I thoroughly enjoyed this cover. That probably sounds a bit pretentious of me, a random listener on youtube, but simply saying, "that was an amazing cover" wouldn't cut it. I figured as someone who also loves the original track so much that you deserved nothing less than an honest appraisal of your cover. In my opinion, you accomplished what you set out to do and then some. Not only did you make this song your own, It was very much emotional, very much a hard hitting piece, and yet it stayed close enough to the original to still be identifiable and carry the nostalgic weight of the original. Once again, you've done another amazing cover, as I've come to expect from you.
Your first cover of this is what made me start following you... the original is definitely a top 3 fave of mine in all of VGM and love that cover you did. I gotta say I like how youve improved it. You seemed to build a lot on the strengths of the track and really cleaned it up where the mastering was iffy. This is a fun way to demonstrate how far along youve come in the last 3 years too. rock n roll man
I'll admit, I had my doubts when you claimed to have stepped away from the original style... but this is still tasteful and triggers the right nostalgia points in my brain so. thanks for the memories man haha
You REDID it? Holy crap, haven't even listened to it yet and my mind is already blown. Your first CoT cover is what got me hooked on your channel, been listening ever since. Awesome seeing how your channel's grown since then.
Chrono Trigger is my all time favorite turn based Rpg, and you have absolutely smashed this cover. One of the best covers of this song I have ever heard
Nice work, dude! I really dig this arrangement. You put your own spin on it and it works beautifully. Again, I am floored by your technical proficiency. I don't think I heard a single note out of place rhythmically which is most impressive. It reminds me that I need to get back to practicing scales every day!
Aw, man, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully it lived up to the #HYPE. It's a very powerful piece of music which fits that section of the game so perfectly. I only hope that did it some justice and that my lyrics were fitting to the subject matter. I tried to keep them subtle and not bombard the listener with too much philosophical gibberish. I'd like to hear your interpretation when it's finished! It'd be tricky to pull it off with distorted guitars, but I definitely think it's possible. Now that you mention it, yeah, I think the solo is a tiny bit too loud. That only proves my point that I really need to get some damned monitors! Thanks for the comment, dude!
This is amazing!!! I discovered your channel with the version you did 2 years ago, as many others here I'm sure. This re-recorded version is bringing many good memories back, from the game itself but also from discovering the whole VGM cover scene on youtube. Cheers for that!
Chrono Trigger is literally my favorite game of all time (heh), so thank you SO MUCH for doing such amazing work with the soundtrack. Can't wait to hear more 💚🖤💜
I remember your original song, and thinking the same thing..I wished the lead had been a bit louder. It was still incredibly impressive! This is amazing too...so neat to see you grow into an awesome musician!
I admit that I have not played through Chrono Trigger, and the original melody is unknown to me. But this still brought tears to my eyes, striking a chord deep within. Utterly fantastic!
Dude excellent work as always! So glad I found this channel originally from a Pokemon video some months ago, it has so much hype at my job, when I'm like Richaad has a new video everyone in my area wants to listen, keep it up!
