My 02 ram has the 3.7 it runs fine low miles but weak as piss

Nathan Eller just hit 100,800 miles on mine, aside from a few bad relays and a small exhaust manifold leak on start up everything still holding up after 15 years 👍

Shouldn't be that hard to just swap a manual in. I'm sure you could get the ECM reflashed and just bolt it up?

Nathan Eller untrue, 91 burns slower than 87, you can cause a lot of long term damage if your engine isn’t tuned to run it.

The 3.7l gets 18 mpg, at least for the Ram. Not bad for a early 2000s truck.

Walter Frederick I'm not a fan of these engines. But appart from the Valve lifters, they are pretty good. They also suffer from timing chains getting loose just like the 239 and 318 design.

But in the end, my 239 has bad lifters too, so... And my 318 has Transmission issues. (Gotta love Chrysler auto trans.)

Walter Frederick But I have to agree, they are a pain to work on. I recently did a lifter job on a 3.7L. 3/4 of the work time was just taking the Valve covers off because you need to take everything around off in those 3rd gen Dakota's. I'll stick with my 1st and 2nd gen.

I dont get it. This has to be one of the easiest engines to work on I've seen. They are so simple its rediculous.

Probably the same people who don't take maintenance and service seriously....

The lifters are shit, like really shitty. But in reality, the rest is good.

@@SimplexSM mine has a knocking I cannot figure out on acceleration could it be the lifters? I've checked the rods they are perfectly fine.

I had a 5.2 in my zj and now I've had the 4.7HO in my overland... And I love the engine. Had it for 16 years and and honestly has been pretty damn realible. Always changed oil and used Mobil1 synthetic. And 99% premium fuel
