When I used to be in choir we sung silent night with sign language and the last part is just the sign language and no one knew when to clap and we waited 30 seconds until the audience was like "oh"
i like how this comment section is literally just like a time capsule, people from 7-10 years ago commenting that they're playing this when now they could be in college/high school. and I'm here remembering that I played this two years ago for my 7th grade performance lol
Oh man I played this 15(!) years ago, now I feel super old haha Edit: I’m at the last variation and somehow I still remember like 90% of the viola part lol
I'm scrolling through the comments and I see comments from 7 and 8 years ago and they're in like 8th grade then and I'm barely in 8th grade. I'm playing this as concertmaster and I love it. Like it just hits me seeing people say that they're in 8th grade and it was 8 years ago and I'm just like DANG man. Just hits me in a good way.
Ah, nice. This was one of my favorite pieces we played in high school - twice, I think, as we played it early on and demanded to play it again when I was a senior. I played 2nd violin the first time, and 1st violin the last time. So fun to play, and this rendition does it some justice. :)
We're playing it right now... I'm a viola in 7th grade! I'm gonna be honest, it's a little difficult to get the notes in variation 4. The triplets in Variation 2 are also a bit difficult.
We are playing this song in orchestra. We are going to play it for our district festival and I’m so excited because we made state this year and are also playing this song there two!!! Our orchestra ranges from 6th to 8th graders but I’m in 7th. I also play first violin!GO HONEY BADGERS!!!
you guys sound nice at Variation 4, sometime around 1:45 ish. For us, our director tells us we are good, but we all know we suck. =P Everything we play is a hot mess.... xD
When I was in grade 10, 8 years ago, we were doing this song in class at school. I played 1st violin, and was practicing it in my room when my brother, who was in grade 7 at the time, came home from his snowboard trip to Quebec; I remember it very well! Three years before that, when I was in grade 7, the string orchestra I was in at the time played it that year, and I was on 2nd violin. It was my favourite song to play both years!
I played this in orchestra when I was in high school! Man it seems like ages ago, I graduated in 06. It was one of my favorites, such fun, especially the very ending :)
I vividly remember playing this back in 7th grade, I played 2nd. I have to day it was my favourite piece that year. Then I played it in class in high school on 1st.
Haha, sphere. That's cool. The CHS I know is in Grand Junction and it's stands for Central High School. But it sucks, because in our class there's only 5-6 violas players. And there's really only two good players. My friend and me(not trying to boast myself). Because the other players can't be in intonation, they can't count or they don't anything at all...
We are playing this in my school orchestra (which only has 14 people and im the only cellist) And a pirate of the carribean song so we are going to all order eye patches!
We're playing this piece this year. Our orchestra teacher is awesome. We're only in eighth grade but he has me and the other cellist playing up in seventh position somtimes. We do go up to third and fourth quite often.
@MelancholyWhisper One day, our cellos screwed up soo bad on that harmonic, it sounded like a dying goat watching a horse die. That's how bad it was. But other than that, you could say they are " 'ight ".
Haha we are playing this for fun in our orchestra for the rest of the year since all the concerts are done and I conducted it today. You guys sound really good, its just that my interpretation is different on certain parts. Btw my orchestra did dance of the tumblers for a festival as symphonic. We are an MS orchestra btw, and we got gold rating we beat the HS there that played this really awsome concerto.
Love this song! But it's soo hard to play it!!!! Btw violin player and we are plaqying this song for honor orchestra plus two celtic dances and dragon hunter :D
I heard the cellos being out of tune too. Maybe it's because the orchestra I play with is playing this and I know how the harmonics could and/or should sound. I don't know but I definitely heard it.
It's very hard to hit it JUST right. We had to play this as well and I played the cello. Very seldom did we all hit the exact harmonic. It get's tricky that high.
For a little background ive dabbled with guitar my whole life but i played double bass for 8 years and have been playing bass guitar around middle school and i play that every now and then, ive been playing it more often now than i did last year or the year prior, I was first bass chair for all 7 years I played in a symphonic ensemble. Im 22 now I never persued my music career but I also realize its not too late so I plan to buy a double bass in the near future, hoping the ensemble or group i join doesnt have restrictions regarding instrument colors
