@@Zak1s1Yes because Klay Thompson will not be consistent , I love Klay Thompson but let's not get ahead of ourselves after just one game (and it's vs Spurs) , you can overreact after the regular season is over.
As a team the Mavs definitely overachieved last season. However the one factor that could propel them into a top 4 seed is Luka. Luka having an MVP season and they could definitely be a top 4 team.
He didn’t hate ..he predicted klay would get 20+ and Shaq said 15 ..it’s his personal opinion which isn’t hating.. one good game doesn’t mean anything in a 82 game season
@@Han-tc7wx Mavs still have two champions in Kyrie & Klay, and Luka takes over games. OKC does have 3 good defenders in Cason, Dort & Caruso, those 3 are going to be a problem for teams the way they rotate them at you.
No way Mavs finish lower than 5th, waaay too much talent even with injuries. Denver is the team in danger of the play-in. They have ZERO bench or depth.
They finished 5th last year while injured and with deadweight Tim Hardly nothing jr... They are a legit 1 seed threat this year, top 4 minimum. Mavs are being underestimated AGAIN just after they punked Thunder/Minnesota and made finals.
a counterargument to chuck's point is, they only had gafford and pj for the last half of the season and they still got the 5th seed. now they got the whole season to play with luka and kyrie and i think that translates to 6-8 more wins this year
Chuck been smoking that good stuff? Mavs were 5th last season with one of the most injured rosters in the league. They swapped out deadweight overpaid Tim Hardaway jr. for one of the best shooters ever Klay Thompson. EASY top 4 seed especially with a motivated Luka who just got to finals and Klay with a chip on his shoulder.
that’s the thing. yeah, if Klay shoot well, they’re very dangerous. but celtics are still better and there’s a few other very dangerous teams. on top of that, you have to account for injuries too. all 3 of them won’t stay healthy all year long. someone like the celtics can afford to lose a starter, but the mavs can’t.
@dilach41 when a fool makes a bad bet just cashout on the opposite and wait. No disrespect to Klay. Im happy hes with the Mavs, but that still is not an answer to the Celtics. Difficult concept for some to swallow but Celtics might be looking at a legacy this season.
Thank god this is their last season. Barkley is clearly demented at this point. They got lucky last year because of the match up? They took down the Thunder and the Wolves, two teams Chuck was very high on.😂
"Everything worked out perfectly for them last year" - Chuck Everything that worked out perfectly: Luka beated to a pulp, DLive hurt, Kleber hurt, Kyrie bad showing in finals, played the 1, 2, 4 seed to get there, Luka going subzero from 3, Mavs shooting like 12% in the finals from 3 and like in the 20%s throughout the playoffs.... Yeah chuck it went perfectly
They lost in the Finals to a better team. They faced the Clippers w/o Leonard for most of the 1st round series. Then, they faced an inexperienced Thunder team. Then, they faced another inexperienced team in the Wolves who knocked off the defending Champs. The Nuggets would have been a tougher match-up. Yes, everything worked out perfectly for them last year to get out of the Western Conference.
Timberwolves lost KAT, Clippers lost PG, and Klay basically an upgrade even without his scoring streak, this season should be easier for Mavs, the real question is are they good enough to beat the Celtics.
I was impressed by Klays efficiency, effort and passing (there were glimpses of some of that Golden State ball movement). But I'm worried about when his 0-9 or 0-10 nights happen. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞
It's pretty clear OKC is the favorites in the West. Gets really murky after that. The next tier is probably Nuggets, Twolves, Mavs. Then, it's just a battle royale: Suns, Lakers, Warriors, Grizzlies, Pelicans, Rockets, Kings, Clippers, Spurs. Only the Blazers and likely Jazz will be bad. To Chuck's point, it might be pretty easy for one of those 2nd tier teams to fall into the mosh pit below.
Dallas went like 20-4 after trading for gafford and Washington last year and finished 5th, and now he thinks they’re going to be lower despite having them for the entire season 😂
Here are ESPN predictions in the west: 1. Minnesota 2. Oklahoma 3. Denver 4. Memphis 5. Dallas 6. Phoenix 7. New Orleans 8. Sacramento 9. LA Lakers 10. Golden State 11. Houston 12. LA Clippers
Every time Chuck predicts early in the season that Dallas is gonna be a bottom tier team, it turned out Luka is on the WCF or even Finals. So I guess, Finals bound again this year for the Mavericks.
I totally get what chuck is saying. West is stacked! I’m a mavs fan more than anybody who claims to be a mavs fan but the mavs could easily be 5-7th seed and its not just them, lakers could be there too. We wouldn’t know for sure just yet but the mavs won’t finish top 3.
Tough for Dallas when your 1 two punch are not 2 way players. If you can score on a guy but can’t bother him on defense in the slightest your offense gets negated.
it doesnt matter what seed they are. Home court does nothin for contending West teams, every team has a top player who can perform big in the Playoffs!
They got lucky because of match ups???? They beat a stacked thunder team, and a red hot healthy wolves team who just beat the nuggets... what is he talking about??
Chuck, match-ups??? The mavs were underdogs in every series. Clippers, okc, and Minnesota. If they got lucky then those 3 teams are trash, but they're not. That's the dumbest take I've ever heard in my life
Coming from a Celtics fan I’m pulling for klay I really do think he gon get back to his prime playing Steph like basketball just scoring buckets at will I literally think it’s all mental once he keep getting consistently shots going in he will become the old klay of old probably with slightly worse defense still can play defense but can def play prime klay ball it’s all mental
No way Chuck said his Phoenix and Pelicans are better and wasnt Dallas the underdogs each series last playoffs? A 5th seed beating the 2 top 2 seeds i dont think thats luck at all.
Can kenny please stop calling luka “luker”? This man went to the finals and averaged 35 10 and 9 for the season. And dude said they got lucky???? I thought ant was baby jordan and they beat them without breaking a sweat and had ant looking like a bamby
Luka is the key, and given he hasnt played in months its not suprising he is rusty. IF luka finds form like the back end of last year mavs will be deadly, because Klay should really help create space.
I love Chuck, but logistically speaking you're still talking about the team that has been in the Western conference finals the last two out of three years. Kyrie, Luka, Klay, and I challenge you to name me a deeper team.
I wouldn't say they're lower than 5, but they definitely aren't title favorites. I don't see them making it out of the west this year. To many hungry teams. and a 34 year old Klay will be to inconsistent to take them over the top. It's OKC, Denver, and Mavs top three for me.
Chuck says the Mavs got lucky last year and that they are a middle of the road team. Then proceeds to say that the Suns are going to be better this year and the Lakers are solid, really? Suns core 3 dont fit at all and not going to work this year either. Then I guess adding Bronny is going to make the Lakers even better this year rite? LOL too funny, what a joke! Dallas is better than both of those teams!
