Showtape Title: CEC Movie Magic
Release Date: December 19, 1986
In this show the Pizza Time players preform songs from popular eighties movies. Songs from "Ghostbusters", "Back to the Future", "Flashdance" and "The Wiz" all appear in this showtape. This show is also in the same format as History of Rock Part II, where it is just one segment long, with multiple songs played and long strings of dialogue in between each, though unlike HOR2, they play the full songs and not just a few seconds of it. History of Rock part 2 was actually the second segment on the Movie Magic reel, making it the first instance of a segment from a previous showtape being reused on a newer showtape, which would continue until March 1990. To fit with the theme of movies, CEC stores were given a set of props and cosmetics to decorate the show with. The characters were all given fancy outfits that made them look like they were attending a Hollywood premiere, and a replica the Hollywood sign was installed behind Chuck E. This show also introduces a set of special shows that would later be reused on every tape until 1989. New to this tape are "Beach Boys Birthday" and "Dancing in the Streets" and reused from History of Rock are "Celebration" "Munch's Into" and "Cheer - Hooray" which is odd that they reused them because of Chuck E. and Munch's voices not being the same, but ShowBiz didn't care so why should I? In addition to be the first show played on the Rocker stage, this was also the very first show ever released for Cybervision, the earliest prototype of the Cyberstar system that made it's debute at the Chuck E. Cheese's store in Arlington, Texas in 1987. Unlike Cyberstar, which used SVHS tapes, Cybervision used Betamax tapes to run it's shows. Every showtape from January 1987 until the switch to SVHS in with the May 1988 Show was released on reel and betamax. That being said, due to the fact that these tapes were only used in only one known location, the video contained on these betamax tapes for every show from January 87 to March 88 are currently lost, and even CEC Corporate doesn't own any copies. It should also be noted that the script for this show was reused almost word for word for the Movies segment of the Rock-afire's "Westerns / Movies / R&R" show that ShowBiz also produced.
