Chuck Palahniuk discusses his book "Tell All," presented by Harvard Book Store. "Tell All" is a homage to Old Hollywood, inspired by the life of Lillian Hellman. More lectures at forum-network.org This talk was taped on May 5, 2010.
Share your stories - whatever they are. Never let religion, politics, shame, or any ideology prevent you from doing so...because no matter what they are they'll help someone.
A therapist on our local tv station was with a patient that was dying,He said to the guy thank for the experience, like an objective training tool being used inspite of himself or any real empathy shown
This is one of the very few such lectures I've seen on RU-vid in which the long introduction DOES actually add to the presentation. Also, you can tell the difference between two kinds of storytellers when you hear one consistently say "bolding" and the other say "boldface"; Chuck knows which word will communicate rather than confuse.
OMFG I have'nt laughes so hard...(maybe not the best choice of word...anywho) I really needed to laugh and I'm gonna send the link to my friends, they'll die, it.s so funny. Thanks very much, this is the greatest I have heard for long long time and I have it on my playlist (duhh) BUT there are certain things, food and items I won't/can't eat again, EVER and stuff I'm going to look at and laugh so hard out loud...and only I know why, lmfao! Love it, thanks! And thanks to the person who got me to watch this, thanks! ;) XoXo Anne-Kristine , Copenhagen
Can someone explain to me the ending of the Knock Knock story? The joke doesn't make sense like his dads jokes didn't make sense to him right? What does it symbolize?
The guy loves his Dad even though he doesn't get the jokes, but he knows it makes his Dad feel better. So when his Dad is dying, he thinks that Daddy jokes would heal him and prevent from dying
@@YungToyBreaker I think the father realizes he’s turned his son what he is, a man so detached from seriousness that it alienates the people closest to him, like the father with his wife. The father on his deathbed realizes this tragic truth while his son is completely oblivious, making him burst into tears. At least that’s how I saw it.
The only author's reading I ever attended was Harlan Ellison at a bookstore in Encino, Califirnia. Harlan wrote weird stuff too. But he wasn't as funny as Palahniuk. Ellison wrote I HAVE NO MOUTH AND I MUST SCREAM.
That knock knock story was dreadful... this guy is trying so hard to recreate the magic of "Fight Club," seems like he only really had one or two good stories in him
