There's one kid in my church who literally runs up to the icons and does 2 rapid face swirls, kiss, finishes with a rapid face swirl. I swear it takes him less than 3 seconds.....he's quite the figgeter though.

A nun told me, crossing your legs is a big no. We should try not to do it anywhere ideally, but definitely not in church. The reason being that we have to undo a cross when we get up

Crossing one’s legs is a relaxed way of sitting, and in many cultures is considered disrespectful. We are not supposed to be “relaxed” in our worship, we are doing the “work of the people” (liturgia). Some say that if you do cross your legs, only do so at the ankles, keeping both feet on the ground. In many Arabic cultures, showing the bottoms of your feet is out-and-out insulting.

@@mblaydoe Lebanese here. I can confirm your last statement, feet planted unless you want a quick smack. Also if you are tasked with moving a Holy item(Scriptures, Icons, etc..) for whatever reason, do not place them down anywhere you would sit or walk.(icons or Bible on a seat or pew)

I dont know if you will cover this at some point, but I think this needs to be said. In some churches, just prior to communion being served, when the altar is veiled, the communicants will approach the analogion to venerate the icon of the patron saint, or perhaps Christ. But, once the veil is open, and the chalice is out, we should NOT be venerating an icon, with Christ the King present in front of us. Icons are an image, but the chalice contains Christ's very Body and Blood. You wouldnt approach the ambassador before the King in the kings chamber. Neither should we do so in Church. This is probably an etiquette 201 thing, but it really bothers me when I see it.

Another Church etiquette requirement, that I learned from my Spiritual Father, who was an Athonite monk, is to never cross your arms behind your back (and cross your fingers?). It's considered as a symbol of duplicity or scheming and is disrespectful.

Last night I started studying orthodox I thought it was simple. I started to like it. I don't know if this sect would truly make me forgiven of my sins and become a new person, but I saw that it was like a happy start to something good. But I tried it. Ask about different information There are hardly any in my country, there are only other sects. Thank you for letting me know that there are such sects in being in Jesus Christ.

Glad you saw the humor. At the church I go at least and Im sure at least other OCA churches are similar, veils for women are very optional, most women don’t wear them at the one I go to. It does not personally bother me or anything, I just lack understanding why this standard has changed for women and not men. You know or is my priest incorrect and would most priests say Paul is correct in 1 Corinthians 11:6. According to my priest and I think he has a good point modesty in society is so out of wack that its sort of outdated. Not his exact words and he gave a longer and better explaination for his position but I just dont really get it, and if thats the case couldn’t you make a similar argument for hats on men. Just not sure why the standard needs to be lowered for women. Edit: I also have pretty serious sleep issues you are in my prayers

My personal opinion is that the head coverings tradition should be kept, mostly because its symbolism is a powerful message about what we believe about worship and our relationship with God.
