I was a rural Georgia boy too young to know much but I heard the name Marshall Keeble used a lot in my church of Christ household and I recall hearing when he died. I remember when- as an adult- I first heard a recording of one his sermons . That sermon inspired me to learn more about the man & his example has been guide for me ever since.

I grew up in the thumb of Michigan which is almost all white. I was born after Marshall Keeble's passing but growing in the Church of Christ I heard many stories about minister Keeble and he was always spoken of with reverence. Excellent video. Thanks.

We all need to unite. Getting with leadership locally, and within the different branches to share what I've learned on my spiritual journey within and outside of the churches of Christ. The unity you strive for was also placed upon my heart a few years back. Romans 11, Luke 24, Acts are key in being grafted into the correct tree and in preaching the Heavenly Kingdom's Gospel on earth. It's about to burst forth!
I am thankful for the men, starting with Alexander Campbell, born in Ireland in 1788, who felt the need to get back to following only the Bible, and not the doctrines of men.

My church does not have any creeds, no instrumental music, no idol statues, we take the Lords supper once a week, we give to the collection plate we sing with our lips to the Lord. When the Bible speak we speak, when the Bible is silent, we are also silent. Be believe that you must be baptized into Christ for the remission of your sins. I think you know what I'm getting at.
There is a bsic problem with your understanding. Restoration / Campbellian theology IS doctrines of uninspired men. If CoC's were truely the same as Rom 16:16... y'all would study what they studied and do what they did. (Laws of God.. in church.. on the Sabbath). Specific examples of after the cross Christians Sabbath keeping: - Acts 13:14-15 - went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down. And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets - Acts 13:27 - the voices of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath - Acts 13:42-46 - In synagogue on Sabbath. And on the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. - Acts 15:19-21 - Writings of Moses being read in the synagogues every Sabbath. - Acts 16:13 - On Sabbath prayer was customarily made at the river. - Acts 17:2 - Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures. - Acts 18:4 - Paul reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks. - Matt 24:20 - pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath - Rev 12:17 - her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. - Isaiah 66:23 - And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord

I have read many of the comments on this page suggesting that Alexander Campbell was the one responsible for the restoration of the Church or even founded the Church, that is simply not true in either case. The Church universal had one founder, and that was Christ. Secondly the Church did not come back in Kentucky with Alexander Campbell. In the past 5-6 hundred years, numerous churches advocating a return to the original bible doctrine rose across the globe.
jog jogjog ... This is true, now where are they really twisted is saying the are the Church of Christ. And then they twist it and say the church is invisible and they are the invisible Church and they put the focus on themselves and not the body of Christ as a whole, meaning anyone who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved like the word says. And so they use the twisting of the word of God to those that don't know any better and convincing them that this is the truth and they hold the truth and outside of them you're an error and the erring brother or sister, if you're outside of the Church of Christ and so it's a real play on words.. And they use that to their advantage. And so they keep people feeling like they're in the right place now far as the Old Testament goes as far as I can tell they teach the Old Testament really accurate it's just the New Testament like all these other denominations do that try to isolate people to themselves and to their Doctrine only rather than the doctrine of Jesus Christ in the word of God. But you see this is what the Church of Christ denomination says they're doing the problem is they twist it to fit their Doctrine and so it's a tangled web that they weed to keep them confused them being the new Converse similar to the Mormon church or the Catholic Church and there's where the problem lies. I grew up in the Church of Christ and I knew one thing as a child if there was a heaven I wasn't going to make it and if there was a hell I was in trouble and by the time I was 14 years old my mom told me son be hot or cold if you are lukewarm God will spew you out of his mouth well that. That was true. So God use this, in a way that I never expected so I stopped going to church cuz I didn't want to play games with God at 14 cuz I had a respect for the Lord. When I was 18, I was miserable the partying and the wild lifestyle I was now miserable. And I heard and saw in the word of God that God knew I couldn't be perfect God knew I couldn't live up to his expectations God knew I couldn't keep the 10 command! And this is why Jesus died because I couldn't do it and he knew it. So when I saw this gave me hope that I never had and when I truly trusted and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ super naturally when I repented I was forgiven and I knew it I had a peace in my heart and a joy in my soul and all the guilt and shame removed from my life like it says in 2nd Corinthians 5:17 I was a new creature in Christ and from that moment on I knew it in for the first time in my life the Bible made sense and I understood. So when you know the truth the truth will set you free Jesus says in John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life and no man can come to the father except by me! John 3:16 for God so loved the world. For God so loved me, he gave his only begotten son, so that when I believed on him I would not perish. ( Or two better put it I would not be eternally separated from him. churches of christ are known to have existed in america long before campbell came to america. (campbell being born in 1788 and arriving in america in 1809) rock springs church of christ in celina, tennessee started in 1804. in revere, massachusetts there's a historical marker reading: church of christ erected in 1710.

I was CoC for 34yrs. They are protestant and use catholicism as a basis from which they reformed themselves. They deny A.C. and B.S. as founders but they simply are an evolution of the efforts of those two ex-Presbyterians. Hijacking Rom 16:16 to justify "Church of Christ" on the front of the building is simply pretext.
@axis4peace3 Well, ours is independent as well. What I was saying is that all races are welcome to attend if they wish. We have a few black people who attend sporadically, and they are always made welcome. I think people of different cultures like to come together with others like them, and it just so happens the races are along those lines. I like to visit other CoCs when I travel, without knowing whether they are primarily black or white. I know I will get a good biblical sermon anyway.
Mary Curb , our congregation is mixed. If your concerned then maybe you should seek away, keeping in step with the Bible, to integrate them. Teaching in truth in love is the way.
I believe the english is plain. Seek means attempt or desire to obtain or achieve. Away means when something or someone is not there or in the correct place. This separation is clearly not Christ like but as a Christian wearing Christ name you should "seek away". Otherwise your previous statement is not edifying to anyone and should not be shared. Out of my love for you I found away to reach out to you because of that. So now, sister please find away to disrupt this pattern. Step outside of the box and switch congregations and be the first but do not challenge people to do what you have not done. And if you do it shows your on Christ side not the buildings. Campbell REASSERTED the foundations of the church which were sorely needed at the time. Baptists, Anabaptists, Methodists and others JOINED together to REASSERT and RESTORE the Lord's church. It is not a denomination. Look at the basic biblical doctrines and you will find that.
We are not talking about Calvary Chapel Philip (I think according to the video). The lord's church has absolutes according to structure. There is a pattern to follow.

CofC definitely forces by constant unsolicited calls and junk mail. Popups at homes calling it "checking on you".... ive grown up in this church and my grandfather a preacher for a CofC congregation. They will bully you into being baptized with them.

They'll do something heinous and use their doctrine to back it up and when anyone says it wasnt right what you've done and I am leaving as a result. CofC says "well we all arent bad.... how can you judge the church off of something one person has done." Its because you believe the same doctrine. And once you allow one person yo pervert a scripture to fit into the CofC doctrine it opens doors for them to take advantage. I was downright harrassed to be baptized. Down to trying their hand and fearmongering. Telling me that me and my unborn child would die and go to hell if I didnt. I finally got baptized. Nobody cared about my treatment by those bullying me. They are so obsessed with baptizing people that they were just happy it happened. But let me tell u. I didnt feel good, empowered, happy, saved, nothing. And this isnt my only experience. Ive been to youth conferences hosted by CofC congregations where rape was made a joke. Oh i have plenty more experiences. You dont have to believe me because your believing is irrelevant to my first hand experience. And its NOT just one person.

For the life of me I do not understand what is the point of focusing on what certain brothers did for black or white people in the Lord? true, alexander campbell could not have restored the church of christ. it never left the earth since jesus said "upon this rock i will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it".
I think we are missing the point. Campbell did not restore the kingdom, he saw errors and called denominations together under the phrase our lord uttered "I pray they all would be one" in John 17:21. When we want to "restore" an old car, have we changed what the car is? No, we want it back to it's original state. So we find original parts and put the car back to original condition. Campbell saw the pattern of the churches of the day and said and this is me paraphrasing for simplicity "The church is not in its original condition, that means it is not how Christ originally wanted it, let's get back to that". Not like Martin Luther who "reformed" the church, restoration and reforming are different. According to each situation; who authorizes what? In this case, The authority of the scriptures gives the church and its members the right to expose false teachers and "Correct, reprove and rebuke" (2nd Timothy). Of course there are other churches named with scriptural names and they are God's people, but that does not mean all are following correct doctrine. Campbell saw the errors and called all who are with Christ to get back to the original pattern. Does not our Lord use His Holy word to keep us informed? (Do not be ignorant brothers...). Corey Martin did you believe you were already saved before you were baptized? If so then I will give you a little advice. Get re baptized, because at that time when you were baptized, you didn't fully understand what baptism meant. And I'm so proud you were called to the church that Christ established.
