Most Christians will change churches at some point in their life and research shows it's happening more often than it used to. In a recent Lifeway Research survey, 60 percent indicated a physical move as the main reason for their change. The other 40 percent gave a variety of different answers.
The Lifeway study shows most churchgoers in the United States don't often switch churches but sometimes it's necessary, whether it's moving to a new neighborhood or city or some other reason.
"After churches opened back up, we of course went back to church and I just began to feel like really, I needed something more," Heather Edwards said in an interview with CBN News.

@@AE-pv9vc and who exactly are you to determine what is and isnt "led by the holy spirit?" The Orthodox Church, the body of Christ, as established at Pentecost is lead by the Head, Christ himself, and is FILLED with the Holy Spirit. @AE-pv9vc
@AE-pv9vc 7 месяцев назад
@kardz1848 pretty simple- when you accept Christ He puts the Holy Spirit inside of you, teaching you the truth and reminding you of everything Christ taught. Since He decided to dwell within our hearts and adopt us as sons and daughters, He gave us the ability to discern truth. I'm not knocking your participation in an orthodox church, but it is a spirit of religion that causes you to respond so. I would implore you to seek Christ and have Him open your eyes.

@@AE-pv9vc you just ignored everything i said, the way you are referring to seeking christ doesnt apply to the Orthodox Church. Christ has, is, and will always be with Us. He is the Head of the One True Church. There are member within that church that need to seek Christ on a personal level, sure, however the Church as a whole is headed by Christ himself. There can only be one true religion, the spirit of religion does not trample the spirit of Christ. The Orthodox religion is directly the life in Christ. I have been searching for a church for 15 months now, and it has been far harder than I ever imagined. So many churches try to put on a good show, or the pastor gets up there and everybody says how he "preaches the bible!" And you sit there for 45 minutes listening to words but nothing is being said. I am reading my bible every day, and I am by no means perfect nor am I demanding perfection, I just want something real. Not smells and bells, not a lazer light show, just a church where we worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth, and actually care about people beyond their attendance or tithing potential.

Enough with the concerts, music so loud it shakes the floor, hypnotic lights, worship in the dark, strobes, fog, and repetitive lyrics that are repeated for several minutes. Worship is supposed to be in Spirit and truth, and we're supposed to worship and serve the Lord with all of our heart, mind, and strength. Come, let us reason together.

I've tried going back to something like that. nothing changes. music is not any kind of solution as styles come and go and we are just riding the winds. once the music of the ancient church changed to only hymns who got some of their melodies from famous beer drinking songs in the 1600s we set the protestant world on a collision course with the secular world of music. now when they change, we have to change. going to an older style, however much I like it, fixes nothing as the real issues run too deep.

God created the world for his own praise - for his own glory. There is also a lot about fear of God in the bible, even if you choose to ignore it its still there many many times even in the 'New Testament'... you don't have to be terrified or something but for Church teaching to seem to just ignore it I mean 'a certain respect for his holiness, his name, his power, I mean even his best mate John that was the disciple that he loved in Rev. 1.17 said ''When I saw him, I fell down at his feet like a dead man' ? Simple solution: Join the church that has never changed the original teachings of Christ that was given to the Apostles, the church that has an unbroken continuity from the Old Testament to the New to now, the church that not only correctly teaches but correctly glorifies the Holy Trinity. This Church exists today, the fullness of salvation is preached by her unchanged since the beginning, this is the correctly believing/teaching/glorifying eclesia, this is the Ortho (correct/straight) dox (glory) Chrsitian Church. This is where heaven meets earth, where the Kingdom of God is actualized and we participate in it, becoming "partakers of the divine nature". Go visit your local Orthodox Church!

Are Protestants are more interested in fellowship with other parishoners than a direct relationship with Lord Jesus Christ? The focus should be on worshipping Lord Jesus Christ, not just meeting and talking to other people. Worship isn't just singing praises to God, although that is part of it. Worship isn't just hearing Scripture, Bible study - the Liturgy of the Word - although that is part of it. Jesus said that if one doesn't eat His Flesh and drink His Blood, one doesn't have Life in them. Holy Eucharist is the True Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Lord Jesus Christ. Worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. Stop focusing primarily on human fellowship.

Church is supposed to be about community (emphasis on unity in community) based on authentic Christ-like love, sanctified in Truth, that worships God together throughout the week. But it has sadly (strategically if you study) become a place where the Spirit in believers are recognizing humanism and selfish ambitions as but some of the idol gods at work in far too many churches. There's also hypocrisy, mammon, indifference, Jezebel, deception, the spirit of religion, etc. True disciples hunger for Spirit-filled, -centered and -driven Koinonia. And authentic shepherding. The way it was in Acts.

Judgmental, unfriendly, unkind, and unloving. My wife and my son. Where two or three are gathered in his name... There He is in the midst. God has met us at home many times. I was going to go there. But some things changed. Where we kept on going to church. Reluctantly.... And now we are moving across country to go to a church that we feel led too. Ha. Yes... across country. We are praying about that now. And all roads seem to be pointing that God has directed this. Pastors and Christians need to wake up. We know that the church is in decline in America. Wake up and understand what is going on. It may be that this is apart of the great falling away. Because I no longer feel like I am apart of the church family. Not the family that does not honestly welcome my family and I into the body. Their special group.

@@karlheven8328 Traditional Catholicism hated the orthodox with ferocity (google Jasenovac) and the modernists are the ones who changed that. We venerate the Theotokos. Celibacy is an 11th centrury innovation. The Roman Church is... Roman. How are you less nationalistic? What you call nationalistic is the fact that nations love so much Christ that it's part of their national identity whereas in the West it's so foreign that most nations in the West got rid of Christianity without a second though. Remember the parable of the sewer? Nations are the soil. In the orthodox countries, the tree has long roots going deep in the soil, so even when the wind of lsIam and Communism blew the tree remained firmly rooted in the ground. In the West, Rome uprooted the tree from the soil in order to impose a strange rite in Latin instead of the local tradition (Gallican, Celtic, Hiberic, Byzantine in the south of Italy...) and uprooted it again with the Novus Ordo in recent years. Now the tree is dry and dying in every western nation while it resists the win of post modernism in orthodox countries. None of the orthodox countries have legalized same sin marriage. Priests are not banned from main media. The orthodox Religion is officially recognized in the Constitutions of Greece and Cyprus. Judge the tree from the fruits.

I left my family Catholic church cuz the priest was too controversial and very far right back in the 90's. During his homilies, he accuses people for their sins and always see anger in his face. He's always mad about everything. I have long hair one time I was leaving church and I got compliments that I look like Jesus and made a lot of people smile. The controversial priest heard about the conversation and told me I had no business looking like our Saviour. I was stunned just because of a compliment? I had to endure him for 12 years as my father was very strict. As I got older, I found strength to move to another Catholic church and I was welcomed with open arms. With that, I got into the ministry of being a Eucharistic Minister. Been doing it for 25 years now and couldn't be more happy. As for the controversial priest, he was removed from the church and the Diocese due to his stupidities. It's about time the parishioners had enough of him.

I came to faith and attended Non-denominational/Baptist/Pentecostal churches. Something always felt missing. I am currently attending a Biblical Anglican church (ACNA). Many of those attending my church come from the same background as me. It's the best church community I have attended! The liturgy is Christ-centered and we take the Eucharist every Sunday. I don't think I'd ever return to a more causal church or a church that didn't do weekly communion again. It's Protestant, but we value traditions that are in agreement with Scripture. I also have grown in my understanding of church history and feel more connected with the church around the world. My church is part of GAFCON and aligns with Anglicans in the Global South. We remember the persecuted church and missionaries in our prayers at church. None of this is to speak ill of Christians in Baptist and Pentecostal churches. I have known and love my brothers and sisters in other denominations. I just found myself planted in my current church. I appreciate what other denominations have contributed to my faith in Christ as well. 💛 For the record, I am 29 and formerly an agnostic. Young people are hungry for the Biblical Gospel of Jesus Christ. Gimmicks and worldly entertainment will not bring the younger generations back to the church. Genuine love for Christ and people, living that out in simple community, will do so much. Prayer, seeking the leading of the Holy Spirit, and staying rooted in the Bible. These should be the foundation for what we do.

Read the three chief church fathers taught by the Apostles. Ignatius of Antioch. Polycarp. And Clement of Rome. *Apostolic succession* is what they taught is the structure of the church. The church that can trace their bishop back to the apostles. This church believed in the Eucharist

This is exactly what I'm going through right now. I feel like the church I'm currently in is just too big. I really feel like the pastor is unobtainable and I want to be in more of a community based Church where small groups really do become like small families and where the Pastor is available to Shepherd his flock.

There is NOTHING with more "authenticity" here in this earthly life than the LIVING WORD OF GOD! Imagine God's MESSAGE and THOUGHTS written and spelled out to us in PLAIN ENGLISH! Seeking emotionalism, or ecstatic experiences is evidence of a shallow uninformed immature mind, compared to a deep knowledge of GOD'S WORD. READ it DAILY. "In his LAW doth he MEDITATE day and night" - Psalm 1

I've read the Bible from the first word in Genesis to the last word in Revelations, including every single "begat". I know what the Bible says about women becoming pastors of a church. I know what it says about homosexuality. If the church doesn't preach the Bible I'm not interested in even visiting let alone being a member.

Jesus Christ is perfect, Christians are not. We should follow the Holy Bible to the best of our ability despite our sinful flesh knowing that only Faith in Jesus Christ saves. Always do our best. There's a time to fight for Jesus Christ and that time is now.

Everyone wants their church to grow and reach more souls. Unfortunately many times when this happens, you see less intimate fellowship, family relationships, individual prayer, corporate prayer meetings, and true community. Oh to God that we return to the days of the Early Church where they broke bread, met in houses, and everyone looked out for one another. That being said, the teaching of the unadulterated Word and moving of His Spirit is paramount.

Orthodoxy is tough. Good people but so many issues. I looked into it but realized they pray to saints and see the Bible as supplementary to the infallibility and authority of orthodox church tradition. Also the salvation partly through works thing.

@@Mdntwaffles I actually did speak to someone in the church. I also read a number or websites written by orthodox priests. They do pray to saints. They also say church traditions are at the same level as scripture since they believe Jesus orally passed down things that never made it to the Bible. As the priest told me. “There is holy scripture and there is holy tradition”. Since they say their tradition precedes scripture, that means scripture is vital but secondary to tradition.

I am amazed at how people can define/know authenticity. So, someone has the ability to know when someone else is being authentic? Please. It's just code for "I don't prefer that church." Just preach Jesus.
