We're doing the hybrid approach. We have a host, doing the welcome before the service, later in the service he highlights one announcement with a story and next step, and then introduces the video announcements.

Great video. I remember convincing my church to do video announcements, an it was great at first, but overtime, the effect wore off... But I think there can be a way to merge both in a church. Thanks

We've started adding "Slides" To Our Verbal Announcements. So when someone is delivering it there is a slide with the details on the screen so people can better remember the important parts.

Thanks for the info, As kind of hybrid idea, I’m thinking about having a video that is simply the welcome part just before worship. Then there would be a quick “announcements” from someone just before the message. What do you think about that?

Brady, have you found that the same person telling a story every week to connect it to an announcement loses its luster? Or do you tell multiple stories for multiple announcements?

Depends on how good they are at telling stories 😉 It definitely is beneficial to have more than one host, though!

For those doing a hybrid approach, do you have tips for fitting stories into a 2-3 min video? I feel like just one story could take 2-3 min, lol

Hey John - when it comes to announcements, choose micro stories instead of full detailed testimonies etc. It could be a brief recounting of something from the last time this event happened, or something that happened this week that directly relates to something coming up. The key is to pick a micro story so it can be told in a few sentences. 😊

Hey guys, I'm leading the media ministry in a less-than-100-members church. My pastor just asked me, if we could completely stop doing announcements during the service, and rather send it through video to our congregation's whatsapp group. We struggle with live annoucementes, which currently take like 25 to 30 min when the pastor is doing them. Do you think this is a good approach? Or is it better to train ourselves into better live annoucements? Your opinions are highly valued.

My only concern with sending it to a WhatsApp group is that people who are newer to the church might not be a part of that group yet. I think if it were up to me, I would limit in person announcements to one or two that affect the vast majority of the people in a service, then send the rest of them out elsewhere. 😊
