Honestly, that's a nice sentiment, but this has much more to do with the problems they will encounter by people who will call them friends and family. The vocoder echo of "Feel like I'm Losing My Mind" sounds like it has a male formant effect. In other words, it's like they altered her voice to sound more "masculine", reinforcing and conveying the frustration of women having to fit into a men's world. Lauren, Martin and Ian are true artists! Such a great album.

I don't hear a difference between her voice (which I think is beautiful, and have no reason to be negative about) when she was with Blue Sky Archives other than the times when its intentionally run through synth because this is synth pop/electro pop. Even if she went to a vocal coach or used a synth (either of which is fine), why do you feel the need to chime in with negativity? Does it make you feel good to be that snob in the scene who always has something rude to say about artists? Are you trying to educate us about how we shouldn't like CHVRCHES because your opinion is that Lauren has a weak voice? You should plant a vegetable or help a senior citizen carry out their garbage or literally anything else that brings something good to the world.

I've been replaying this song all day since hearing it this morning. There's something so palpable about the lyrics that genuinely made me quite sad, and still does, when I listen to it. As a man, where empathising with women is so much more than just agreeing with popular talking points, it's important when pieces of media like this come out and you feel like you can actually hear the frustration and loss of self within the lyrics. It's important, and somewhat telling, that it's not anger that conveys the message, but a sense of fatigue from hypocrisy. Art is subjective, as we all know, so I can't say my takeaway from this is the same as anyone else's. But this song makes me think about my female friends, whom I know (as most girls do), suffer with overthinking their appearance, judging their self-worth on what boyfriends can say and a society that prioritises girls looking a certain way and sounding a certain way, often at stark contrast to men. I've been guilty of listening but not really understanding these issues in the past, and to me, that's just the beauty of music; that something within the simplicity of the lyrics and presentation it just hits you on that deeper level. I'm not saying this song is an epiphany moment, but it feels necessary that songs like this bridge that empathetic gap for a lot of men.

That you feel the need to devalue the experience felt by one gender to be inclusive of another, even though "he said, she said" clearly infers the female perspective, says more about your ability to listen than my ability to write.
