Cicada Molting

When he was 5 and I was 4, my brother and I went up and down our street once with our Radio Flyer wagon one summer and picked all the cicada husks we could find off of the trees on our street. When we got home, our mom just looked at all of the ones we had gotten, about 70 or so, and told us to leave them outside and wash our hands before we ate anything. Kind of a pointless memory, but hey, your video reminded me of it.

When you are trying to get out of bed without making a mess

I kept finding these weird empty bug shells on the trees in a park near my house and now I think I know what they are. We do have a lot of cicadas here. I've never seen one though. I've only heard them. They're really loud but they stay up in the trees where I can't see them.

Fascinating! I always thought cicada skins were repulsive, but now I'll never think that again. That freshly molted bug is beautiful!

Tbh I’ve only ever seen the molted skin and assumed cicadas were as sharp, pointy and scary as it but I actually found a live cicada last week and the only way I can use to describe it is absolutely adorable they look like teddy bears with those big ol eyes

I just got off rover watch (Navy MA) and was on my way back to my room and I walked by this and freaked out as I never seen a cicada just heard them and at first glance I thought it was 2 bugs mating I was like wow that green one is huge but then I took a closer look and realized that big green bug just made new skin for itself or whatever it’s called.

How do the wings grow so fast?

Imagen if humans did this. You just get on all 4 and start to rip your self out of the old skin so theres just skin humans all around town. Edit. You also has to rip the skin apart to get your clothes back.

:four things to say: If this thing was giant attacking the city the people would be like “AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” then their ear drumbs burst, I didn’t know it would have to grow wings, These things are annoying as hell And it looks like an alien ^_^

Most people find locust shells on trees. But, l actually watched one shed in the church walkway. Everyone says it sounds gross but it actually very interesting

Boy...most insects...esp certain ones like centipedes, or german cockroaches/waterbugs etc...they really creep me out...but at the same time, there's no denying that insects are postively amazing. I especially marvel at tiny black ants...sometimes I'll watch them as they try to carry a cracker crumb that was on my kitchen floor...and I'll see three or four ants working together to move the cracker crumb, which, compared to their own bodies, looks the size of a boulder. How far will they have to travel with this crumb? How long will it take them to get to their nest, seeing as their little legs can only cover so much ground? Do they 'break down' the cracker crumb and eat it over time? Etc.

It’s literally like it has a zip on its back and it comes out, or it’s a creature emerging and bursting out from the back. Scary stuff.

I just had a cicada fly on to my shoulder and crawl into my tank top and I could feel his crunchy, scratchy legs moving all around trying to get out of the cap sleeve and I was panicking and screaming for help cause I didn't know what had landed inside my top and he just kept crawling around in there... Gave me the heebie jeebies

And that would be cell from dragonball z in real life but like 8 feet tall and talking to people XD
