Question regarding the effect of ligands on colour, you mentioned as splitting increases the light absorbed shifts towards violet - however the light absorbed was shifting towards red, the complementary color was shifting towards violet. So is there a mistake in the statement?
Yes, however, the general rule is to give to the same degree of precision as the figures they have given you. E.g. if they say pH of 5.6 in the question, then make sure your answer is the same. The exception to this is if they specifically tell you what level for precision they require.
