Cimabue, Maesta of Santa Trinita, 1280-1290, tempera on panel, 151 1/2 x 87 3/4" (385 x 223 cm), Uffizi, Florence Speakers: Dr. Steven Zucker and Dr. Beth Harris. Created by Beth Harris and Steven Zucker.
I so appreciate these videos and in this specific case the insight on how Jesus may have been a bit too much for some folks so using Mary as an intermediary and Cimabue either picked it up or it was part of the benefactor input. Good stuff.
Smarthistory. art, history, conversation. Id say the level of english overall. The video works great as a discussion piece, but i find it hard to keep track of the terms mentioned. Dont get me wrong though, its still one of the best videos for studying art history, just not suited for LC(LeavingCert Ireland)/and non native speakers
James, thanks for being in touch. We do our best to explain unusual words but we also understand that art history's terminology can be a challenge and the videos do have a good deal of specialized vocabulary. Here is one suggestion, try listing any words or phrases that don't make sense that you come across in the videos. You can then look them up or just ask us here in the comments. I am sure many other students would be grateful if you pointed out difficult passages and we will do our best to respond.
