Recently bought it too, looks incredible. It's so ironic that they just started getting it right when they are moving away from physical media.. I would give my left hand for them to do this with all the classics, from Snow White to Robin Hood.

Finally, Disney doing the thing the fans *actually* want. I love art preservation so this restoration project is a dream come true.

It looks so beautiful. The resolution boost did wonders.

You can critize Disney for a lot of things but I do appreciate how Disney is trying to restore a lot of their movies and is supporting physical media Hoping for Simpsons S21 collectors edition one day

I’m so excited for this release! I couldn’t help myself and got the DMC copy back in March. My favorite Disney movie finally seen with all the details. It’s like the memo for the platinum edition restoration was; pastel. That’s all. This new restoration feels like it went back to the beginning rather than piggyback off of the same restoration they’ve been using since 2005. Still waiting for Disney to do The Sword in the Stone right. Such a missed opportunity that they didn’t update it with that DMC exclusive anniversary re-release.

Even though it looks slightly better than the previous "restorations", they are still not quite there yet. Some of the colors are not what it looked like in the 50's and look digitally enhanced and brightened to make it more childish for 2023 audiences. Aside from the over-brightening colors, the color palette is also off. Her hair looks green now in all scenes, which is not correct. I know what the 50's palette from the original looks like, based on screens of the original rendering, the original film files, the cinema cards, etc. The colors don't match eachother either. Modern fluor pinks with old greens. It looks like 2023 style. Also, the grain looks like digitally added grain. But it is better than nothing. Hopefully we will get a release in 10 years that reflects the original presentation more.

I bought this when it was first available on the Disney Movie Club (in fact it's the reason I joined), since Cinderella is my favorite movie ever. After almost 2 decades of a terrible "restoration", Cinderella looks amazing! I saved watching it until May 5th, Ilene Woods' birthday, to make the occasion very special, and it was more than I could have ever hoped for! I was brought to tears when I saw the dress transformation and So This is Love. Cinderella was finally done justice! Here's hoping the other restorations are like this, though I don't think the jump in quality will be nearly as drastic as Cinderella's first DVD/Blu Ray to the 4K!

This is an absolutely phenomenal transfer. I got the 4K from the Disney movie club a while back and it is by far one of my favorite 4K discs now

To quote Cinderella: It's more than I ever hoped for! It's not even comparable, this is gorgeous. To think we've been making due with the awful quality of Disney has been giving for so long. Time to quadruple dip!

Thanks Dave for this review and mentioning that the bluray also has the new remastered version. Normally I don't buy 4K because I don't have a 4K setup en I'm happy enough with bluray's but I bought this one because of the new remaster. Kind of crazy to see current Disney put so much effort in physical media

For those that we dont have 4k, can you notice any difference in the regular bluray cd, in this version? Or the upgrade is only noticeable in the 4KHD?

They screwed up Pirates of the Caribbean, but do bangers like this and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?! Man, I know I’m miffed at their quality control lately, but this shows that they have what it takes to do a respectable restoration to one of their classics.

My question is, if ever they do a new restoration of Fantasia, will they do the following things: 1. Restore the original Deems Taylor audio, but with a soundalike or AI to fill in missing gaps 2. Add back in the black centaurette footage, if not in the main feature, as bonus features? 3. Include different cuts of the movie, like the 1982 rerelease where the music was entirely redone?

They definitely need to do this with Snow White! It’d be great to rewatch the classic in all it’s 4K glory.

If we see it on Disney Plus, will it be the recycled restored version or the new restored version even if we don't have a 4k tv or set it on 4k.

I didn't think Disney were doing discs in Australia anymore, but i was pleased to see they made an exception for this one, so I raced down to JB and picked myself up a copy. 😎 It's only got ordinary packaging, and its 4K only, no Blu-Ray. Still happy to have it though!

I noted the comments here about the 2023 BluRay supposedly also being upgraded from 2005, but on my Sony Blu Ray portable (1080i max rez.) there doesn't seem to be any appreciable color change. Example: in many shots Cindy's ball dress remains blue, not silver. But will try again and look harder for the mentioned aspect ratio changes, subtle as they may be.

I find myself a little confused with the Blu-ray disc that is coming packaged with this. I ordered the steel book edition of the 4K from Best Buy. The Blu-ray included in that appears to be the same Blu-ray that came out in 2019 according to the identical artwork on it. This video shows the Blu-ray in the slipcover edition being a simple blue disc. Is the Blu-ray in the steelbook The New remaster Blu-ray or not? Why would the steel book feature the 4K and then change the Blu-ray disc to the old one? Very confused and wondering if I don't have the best Blu-ray transfer even though I have the 4K disc.

How does the quality of the Laugh-O-Gram short compare to what was posted by the channel "World Cinema" and the webm file on the Laugh-O-Gram Wikipedia page?

Disney color graded Cinderella so much for the first DVD series, it wasn't authentic at all. At this point I can't tell if they're still doing that or if these are the original film colors presented in 1950.

We need Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs next down the line!

The animation looks much better, but the colors still look off. They talked about the ballgown being actually silver…but then took every scene where it already was silver and tinted it blue? I’m confused.

Disney put the new transfer on the accompanying blu ray discs with the 4K releases of Speed and Home Alone, they’re doing it more and more now.

Might get this one since we have this in Australia for now, till stock is out completely and forever

I need to collect dvd blu ray on the classics even those direct to video ones as well. I got most of them plus they online as well.

I'm actually not going to buy it just because I like them nostalgic of watching early 2000 Disney movies on DVD. I do want one of the 100th Anniversary DVD sets

Her hair is finally strawberry blonde again. The only good thing about the original Blu-ray is it preserved the RKO Radio Pictures logo which wasn't seen unless you had the 1995 Laserdisc.

You are mistaken it's not the 2012 restoration, it's the 2005 restoration.

I already have "Walt Disney's Cinderella", as well as it's direct-to-DVD sequels and live-action remake, on Blu-ray disc and DVD, but I'm not even thinking about getting it on 4K; I'm thinking about donating my copies of the whole Disney Cinderella quandary and selecting it into my Disney Plus Watchlist.

They recoloured her hair yellow 😢 why?? It’s an auburn strawberry blonde. Not yellow. Why do they always have to mess with the visuals? Why can’t they just clean up the image quality? So frustrating

I just want you to know that I really don't care as long as I could watch Cinderella anytime! Cinderella is one of my top five Disney princesses because I sometimes identify with her! Because when I was 14 years old I had problems at school and everyone was so mean to me! Like Cinderella being forced to be doing chores for her stiff family I was forced to do some school work for my teachers! And whenever I try to reason with them they wouldn't listen to me! I really wanted to tell them how I felt about things but they wouldn't allow it! It's like I'm even forbidden to reason with anyone! It was still off limits no matter how heartbroken I've ever been! And ever since that happened in December 2001 I didn't want to go back there anymore! But thanks to my dad I'm glad I couldn't go back there anymore because those people were so cruel to me! I guess only a therapist could listen to someone and not a teacher from school! I know that they don't go hand-in-hand! Also I sometimes like to be like Cinderella because she wears blue like I do because is my favorite color! I even wore a beautiful blue prom dress at my sister's wedding in the year 2008! And come to think of it I really do miss wearing a beautiful blue ball gown! Butterfly ever get one again I just hope it would be sleeveless for the summer! Even if life is not a fairytale I just thought I would be like Cinderella! In fact if I ever wore a Blue dress again I would perhaps be a water fairy for Halloween! And I couldn't resist being a cartoonist whenever I get inspired whenever and wherever I go! But sometimes I had a feeling that the teachers I worked for that year had child abuse! And just as much as I want to stop bullying I also want to stop child abuse but unfortunately that's just not the case! I want to make the world a better place if I have to! But in the Brandy addition of Cinderella Whitney Houston has always been like a fairy godmother to Brandy! But as for me June Foray who did the voice of Lucifer she was like a fairy godmother to me! But now she's been dead ever since 2017! I usually like her because she did the voice for Rocky the flying squirrel! and I guess it's no wonder why Rocky is my favorite character! Everything is proven my 4k of Cinderella I put on my vhs tape from the 4k itself does have to much color to bad if you think am wrong I know more about my thing's than you do when I say it has to much color on my disc it does

The bluray doesn't look like that. Color of bluray is closer to the 4k on your screen. But bluray makes the faces flat and cartoon like. Only the faces not the background. And dvd is better. I wasted money on 4k
