They both want to put each other first, but in order to do that, they simply cannot - as contradicting as that sounds. Xianglu knows eventually if he doesn't kill Cangxuan, Cangxuan will kill him for sure. And if that happens, Xiaoyao will be heartbroken forever plus his army that depended on him will be wiped out. I can totally see why he doesn't want to start something he already knows the tragic ending of. That's why he entrusted her to Jing many times, he knows Jing is the only one out of all of them that would follow his heart over his brain, and do as much as he could for the sake of Xiaoyao. This doesn't change the fact that he is her soulmate and has the most selfless love for her.

For the record, is that baby really Tushan Jing's? Somehow, I feel like that baby is Tushan Hou, but because he knows his brother is the heir to the Jing throne, he and his lover made Jing believe it is his. The number of times Hou slept with Fahfeng's sister is not surprising at all.

Tbh, I know Jing and Fenlong are like brothers growing up, but there is a great respect between Jing and Xiang Liu. Every scene they were in, they acted like brothers as well - as much as they are cold towards each other. Xiang Liu acts more of a bigger brother to Jing than that of the disgraceful Tushan Hou. However, Xuan just continues to show annoyance to his face when Jing appears for XY. It's so uncomfortable watching them in the same room. The heat 😅
