No se por que equipo lo escucharia usted para no darse cuenta de que el tercer timbal suena horrible, esta muy mal equalizada, ( que no es lo mismo que afinada, son dos cosas distintas).
That was incredible. So musical. The left hand control for rimshots was spectacular but what blew me away was the musicianship and the tuning. I am never, normally, a fan of definite pitch on the kit but that kit was tuned like a ukulele and played like an orchestral instrument. I'm in awe.
Karen Carpenter {RIP} played traditional back in the day and could really play as well, not trying to take anything away from Cindy. They are both excellent drummers
A drummer’s drummer for sure. She has it all, every time I hear her play I get inspired to get better. Dynamics up the ying yang, technique like no other and omg the talent!!!
right around the 9:05 mark, Cindy has this look in her eyes. It is as if she is outside of her body, somewhere else. transported to a happy place, both playing and watching her performance. It's beautiful.
That sound, those chops, the set up..Huge Tony Williams influence, yet she still manages to maintain her own sound..Absolutely superb..I'm also a huge fan and user of clear and coated cs black dot heads...👍👍
"I believe that music is so sacred that once you're playing music you are doing the work of prayer, whether you're conscious of it or not, because you have a focused intent", says Blackman. "You transcend, because you're crossing barriers that a lot of people and even us as musicians don't normally venture to, because we don't think about it. When you can learn to move those energies, even if they're sad, into something that is of benefit, like focusing on bringing light to people who are listening, or just to the universe in general, then you can do something good with it. I don't keep that in mind 100 per cent of the time - I'm human - but I try to." - from her wiki article

@@porgie808 I get their appeal, but I just don't like the way they sound at all most of the time. Although, I will say, here, they have pleasing sound with that particular kit, tuning, mics, etc. But, all things being equal, I'd much prefer a more convention drum heads over these every single time.
I have to say I am a new fan! I love to learn and find drummers that have been around for some time I should have known who she is sooner but I like surprises! She is fantastic! A beast!
I want that Istanbul Mantra 22" ride sooooo bad. Saving up to get it right now. Sounds so incredible. You rule Cindy!!! Thank you for sharing your talents and gift! 🙏🏼
Astonishing. She may have started with a Tony Williams approach, but she speaks her own language now and it is magnificent. This has got to be one of the best solos I've ever heard on ANY instrument. Thanks Drumeo.
Wow! Every single time I watch this fabulous solo, I am just so... amazed...!!! Here we go again! So good, it brings tears into my eyes... Fantastic video. thanks!
she attacks the drums with this feminine ferocity I can't really explain -- as someone who is also a female drummer, I aspire to be like Cindy. just absolutely dominating everything with so much confidence and passion. breaking down barriers and making her own way. I love it
Saw her drum solo live at the Santana concert. Last night 07/19/2024 in North Jersey at the PNC Bank Arts Center. Totally blew my mind. There are no words to describe her talent. she is beyond description.
I had the pleasure of meeting Cindy some years back at her grandmother's funeral. When she shook my hand, holy shit what a grip. She is the nicest person. Autographed a picture for me .
I love this woman. She drums like I feel on a Monday morning -- raw and aggressive, on edge, unprepared even to rise out of bed and yet somehow ready to kill everything in my path.
Beyond excellent very extraordinary drummer, Cindy Blackstone Santana a Legend. I have never seen a woman drummer in my life, like Cindy. Cindy Blackstone Santana is an inspiration to so many little girls, wanting to learn how to play drums, wanting to become a drummer, definitely an inspiration to the little ones to so many in our world Cindy, puts so much passion, her soul, her heart into drumming. Now, can you imagine doing this six nights, maybe seven nights a week during touring through every concert. Yeah exactly. Cindy, inspires me so very much… when I watch Cindy Blackstone Santana play drums. Wow, blows me away. I mean goes right to my soul I love to listen to Cindy Blackstone Santana, play drums. Totally awesome! The best drum solo I've ever seen!! Total on the #1!!! Nailed it Cindy, great flow, verve, style, panache, poise, speed, flow, control, everything really. Best drum solo ever!!!! Go Girl!!!!!
Speed with INCREDIBLE👌 Control that Hand and Foot technique hands down ,love that washy Hi hat by the way. She's a Mysterious Drummer with so much Skill and Heart in her playing.👍
Drumeo, next time warn us, please. I almost fell off my chair with the amount of stuff Cindy was playing. She was already at level 3000 and dammit I wasn't ready.
Last time I saw her live was at Wembley Stadium with Lenny Kravitz opening for Aerosmith about 98/99 and I was blown away then, over 2 decades before I took up the drums, now I'm even more blown away!!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Guess she was angry from the tries before she got it perfect 🤣... I'm a drummer too... Sometimes when you're too happy and confident, that's when you mess up... Maybe not for everyone but yeah
Not saying it never happens and when it does I’ll stand with you and say convict that cop to life in a cage, but it’s not happening to blacks more than whites or Hispanics. It’s that the news has an agenda to create division and only covers one side of the story 24/7, DONT believe me??? There were 14 black men killed unarmed by cops in 2019, and 19 white men unarmed killed by cops, tell me a single one of the white mens names? Weren’t covered, Black was each and every time however.
I have seen Billy Cobham MANY times, starting back in the early 70's with Miles Davis and then superstardom with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Cindy is the only drummer I have seen in the ensuing 50 years that plays with Billy's ferocity, taste and athleticism.
ALLAN CUETO - Cindy played live with LK, but it's actually him on the drums in the studio recording, and for most of his records..He's the only music artist to actually have a drum company endorsement, in this case, although I'm not sure if still there, but it's Ludwig..
Besides the monster playing, can I just mention, no muffling anywhere! Just proper tuning. And I know that the tuning doesn't work for every genre, but damn!
I honestly think it works well for nearly all genres. I use open tuning on my toms for thrash metal because you get a nice musical thunk from them that disappears nice and quickly when you hit them hard, for the prog rock stuff that I do just as often, they resonate for ages as a nice musical accent if you hit them softly. Works fine for me
Saw her last Summer backing her husband's band. Couldn't here her for shit though. Shame because I really like her playing, especially here. Wow! She keeps getting better and better every time I hear her.
Excellent solo. I can hear the rumba clave underneath throughout. Very rooted in African, Afro-Cuban traditions and throwing in some Jazz swing feel (also rooted in African 12/8 patterns) as well. Just really interesting to sense the influences---simply put, sounds really cool and makes one happy and want to dance. Strong and deliberate in her attack, very noticable. Great Cindy!
Loved her from Lenny Kravitz days. How I just now found out she’s married to Carlos Santana is beyond me. Came full circle when I bought a Santana CD with a Chris Stapleton song on it after loving the MNF intro every week. She’s a legend!
You know, I know nothing about professional drumming. But I know about communication and she is saying something here you need to listen to. She's playing with emotion, hear her pattern.
Wow. There are not many who can get inside Tony's head and heart like that. Respect, man. Respect. That was phenomenal. Absolute bombastic bass drum sound. Mic on the batter head. Way to go. One of the best sounding solos I have seen in a long time. Bravo.
