In this Cinema 4D Xpresso tutorial, I illustrate how to use a Hierarchy Node, to streamline repetitive work flow when creating expressions. Thanks go to Vic (AKA huemanElement and formerly, Facade) for the initial inspiration.
My thanks go to the following people, all of whom have been kind enough to buy me a coffee:
Matt, Cedric, Uriah, Willy, Vadim, Tim, Simone and Alain.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
If you wish to by me a coffee, you may do so here: www.buymeacoff...

Thanks, I see, it's about changing the value of the null object Y with noise and then mapping the data to the spline curve points, I've achieved the same effect using effectors

There were no Effectors when I made this one - very old tutorial!

Yes, definitely, the way to go when working with many objects that need similar processing applied to them.

Thank you very much for this Tuturial. Are there any more commands inside the Hierachy Node except D and N? (DD for down down into a second Null).

Yes: U - up one hierarchical level P - previous object on current hierarchical level F - first object on hierarchical level L - last object on hierarchical level Hope this helps!

@@ExpressoMechanicTV Thank you very much for your fast response! Yes, that's working. I don't know why it didn't show up in the C4D help ;-) For my example with a double pendulum the solution now is: Hierarchy Node > Start DDF, Iteration UNDF (so it's always the first Object inside the second Hierachy), and DDL, UNDL Best regards and a happy new Year!

I have request , could you make a tutorial about using expresso to select certain points on a surface to put certain objects. For example a cube has 100 points , I have a cloner with a sphere, platonic and a torus in it , I want any point on the surface with an index that is a multiple of 5 to only have spheres cloned to it, and any point that has an index of say 11,21 ,31 etc to have a platonic cloned on it.Just curious to know if it can be done .Peace.

I recently did something similar to this, for somebody else, so yes, it can be done, but I did it with a Python Effector, as opposed to Xpresso. I'll give it a go and if I think it is okay for a tutorial, I'll make the video. If not, I'll pass the file on to you, if you send me an email.

Update: I have made a new Python Effector tutorial for this, which will be going live on May 18th.
