They missed a terrific opportunity for a great running gag. Maud accidentally helping all of Equestria's villains with their evil plots like she did Starlight.

I never focused on Maude saying it isn't hard to meet somepony she likes, but it's hard to meet somepony that gets her. It's a brief glimpse into how _lonely_ she actually feels. She likes other ponies; other ponies are very put off by her.

The extra writing on Maud's cards might have been for speaking directions or reminders, like to pause for Pinky's outbursts

I respect the fact CinemareSins recognizes Tom as a symbol of all rocks!

Did no one else notice that Starlight's Cutie Mark is a literal kite. I can see why she likes kites, she can be able to control and manipulate people by using magic. That's pretty clever.

I love how he did not sin the fact that Maud literally helped Starlight enslave her village.From what I remember, Starlight actually asks Maud where she could find that staff in order to enslave ponies.She wasn't really coy about it.

My big issue with this episode is that it's another demonstration of Starlight being forced to be relevant by upstaging those around her. No one in all of Ponyville could connect with Maud except Starlight of all ponies? It would make more sense if Starlight was one of a few ponies who could, but just her? And even watching their friendship blossom, it felt very "let's force these characters to feel this way"-ish. I felt no chemistry between the two, regardless of Maud's "out-of-character" smile. I believe Starlight's relationship with Trixie and Sunburst. Those connections seem very natural, but not what she has with Maud. It seems manufactured. I felt like Big Mac would've been a much better fit for Maud as a friend.

I really like Maud and Starlight becoming friends in this episode.

Maybe Starlight's afraid of being treated like a kid because the last time she did that, she got infantalized by her dad so much that she moved out.

Two things here: Even after understanding protagonist absences for other characters to develop, I do agree that for an episode with "Friendship" in the name, it was weird that this was an episode Twilight, the Princess of Friendship, didn't appear in, and 3:22 Actually, Starlight only enslaved five of the Mane 6, and that short of her hypnotizing Twilight doesn't count, especially how someone replied to me about it when I brought it up months ago.

2:40 Twilight already tried and failed with Maud before. Makes sense to try out a new element that wasn’t there before, Starlight.

"Rock Solid Friendship" is one of my favorite Maud episodes! It was interesting to see Maud get a degree in Rockology just as it was hilarious seeing Pinkie Pie go through all those shenanigans to convince Maud to move to Ponyville. And like many others when i first saw this episode i couldn't believe it when I saw the flashback revealing that Maud and Starlight met once before back when Starlight was evil. But with Starlight being reformed it was definitely the perfect opportunity for her and Maud to start over. One of my favorite parts of this episode is when Maud and Starlight discover the grotto near the gem cave it was a gorgeous underground landscape and it was good that Maud made it her permanent residents and for a number of reasons not only is the location adjacent to Ponyville but Maud also wouldn't have to worry about paying rent, bills, and taxes. lol Anyway I give this episode 9/10!!!

I don't see how the water level in the cave should be a problem actually. What looks like an underground pool or pond is probably the mouth of an underground river, given how many waterfalls feed into it and the fact that you can see the body of water stretch off into the background out of sight. Heck, considering we find out later that Maud's cave is part of a cave system that extends into the Everfree Forest since it connects to the Mirror Pool cave, maybe that body of water is the underground river that flows to Winsome Falls as seen in the episode about Rockhoof, Mistmane, and Flash Mangus' legends?

tbf tho rarity probably doesnt use her gem finding magic in the caves coz it seems to just find gems in general, not a specific *type* of gem, which would be useless to do in a cave completely filled with other gems. If she had the ability to only find certain gems she liked instead of just tracking gems in general, she wouldn't complain about other stuff, like how saphires were super hard for her to find. or maybe she would. she is rarity.
