I have problems introducing friends to the Cinematics... They just don't get it, yet "Man with the Movie Camera" just continues to draws me, the excitement grows and rhythm mesmerizes. If you don't get this you're a musical lost cause. I will never get tired of listening to this track!
First time I've heard that tune more than decade ago and now I can easily confess that's the one of the best jazzy tune I've ever heard in my honest...
@@videotropos3288 First, they would probably trip the fuck out. After that, they'd come to appreciate it. Beyond that, they'd likely be burned at the stake for being devil worshipers. lol
I saw them performing this music live to the silent movie back in the day or release - a very special and unique performance. The movie was playing on a big screen, while they where sitting slightly lower, just outside the projector beam, all dressed in black. I wanted to watch the movie, but also see them perform.
Owned this on CD around the time it released, it fell out of my listening for many years, and I've recently re-bought it on vinyl. A timeless gem. I highly recommend their most recent release in 2019 To Believe. They haven't missed a beat in that timespan
I'm doing an essay on this film for one of my courses at uni. Thanks to that, I've found out that Cinematic Orchastra did the soundtrack to the re-release of this film. The soundtrack is absolutely brilliant.
I just want to thank everyone who's commented here and listened to this song. . As mentioned in the description, this is from the album of the same name, which was a commissioned project providing a new score to the absolutely classic Dziga Vertov ('Jiga Verto' if you want the basic English phonetics) film.
i bought the album "everyday" when it came out and i have never been more pleased with music... ever. absolute.. as close to perfect as anything musically.
checked these guys out over a year ago not heard anything from them imo that beats this track, although i've heard it alot on the TV can still listen with passion, amazing work....
Brilliant edit, brilliant score! Just a humble request: If the same edit could be applied to the newly restored BFI edition, then we could see the same in HD. (Although I loved Michael Nyman's score too)
This Cinematic Orchestra DVD "Man With a Movie Camera" was incredibly hard to find, but hot damn was it worth it. I highly suggest any Cinematic fan take the time to track this baby down!
I've been in love with this soundtrack since it was released; it really does justice to the modernity of Dziga Vertov's film - there is nothing about this work that doesn't still captivate today.
the start of this reminds me of goblins getting into mischief..but when the bass drops...its by far the most beutifully lucid emotivating musical space walks...its like seeing the sun rise on the moon completely weigthless..sublime
I'm writing a midterm paper on this film this week; I discovered this just in time. can't wait to watch it with the cinematic orchestra's full score of the film...
I did note that this was an edited version. I have the original, full movie, and it is spectacular. I just hadn't seen this particular video up anywhere, and thought I would share. I can't even remember where or when I got ahold of this, but it has been a favorite since that undefined day.
This is a music group that you can clearly see actually wants to create, beautiful and truly creative music. Refreshing to see good music is still out there. great to know that not everyone is putting all this negative frequency subliminal music !
@Schism54 : Well, this particular song is from an album of the same name, The Man With The Movie Camera, and the rest of it is very much in keeping. I'd say you're most likely to find that LP and the one titled "Every Day" (which also features this song) to be most aligned with what you're seeking.
I bought this on DVD as soon as it came out - I have struggled to suggest to friends that they watch a silent 1920s Russian film with a jazz electronica score but they dont know what beauty they are missing in my oppionion.
Amazing soundtrack to this 1929 footage. Have heard it somewhere before but can’t quite place it. Does anyone know where this music has been used before? I’d love to find out…
sorry that only this V for jbfwinnig ;wanted to know if this is the original movies with its techniques or this is new version recently made..for sure the wonderful music very well added and is new for sure.
Une de mes musiques préférées, je suis totalement fan ainsi que de la reprise Vilderness. One of my favourite tunes, i like this version as well as Vilderness, which is shorter but quite impressive too.
@Delboy001647363 : That sounds just splendid, sir. Being a New Englander and fundamentally lazy, I have not had the opportunity to see them live. Quite jealous!
Everthing in the life have a worth, but the humanity don't know how to worth it... If is true that we're worthing the life, all the city towns and technology, does not exist. But unfortunelly, we lived in a era of techology dependency, and now we got to accept the reality.
