Thank you for this tutorial!! It was so helpful!! I finally figured out how to solve this thing! P. S. What about the number ciphers? Can they be solved using the cipher wheel (cause some cipher wheels do have numbers except for letters too)? If so, could you show us how to decode them? Thank you!

You certainly could. That would make it much harder to solve. Fun too!

I think it would end up being a vignere with no vignere code word if you write out the possiblities in a grid. Since the offset depends on on a relation between the keyword and plain text.

I’m afraid I don’t have anything like that. I think I’ve seen designs like that but I haven’t made or used any.

That would make it even more complex. My current cipher wheels all use 30 characters now - the 26 English letters and numbers 1-4.

@@crypticwoodworks If you use 26 letters and 10 numbers on the big wheel (36) you can mark round the wheel(s) in 10 degree divisions with a simple protractor.

Alexander Knight the outer ring is usually the plain text while the inner is the cipher. But, why nit switch it up to make it even harder, eh?

I have one of these code wheels that I made years ago........the outer wheel has 26 letters and 10 numbers around the outside and inner wheel has the letters and numbers (36) in a jumbled order and it uses a key word of 5 letters that I am familiar with to generate the code......it is unbreakable.....even the most powerful computer cannot decode it without the key word.

Not yet, but I am working on new ones that can create more types of ciphers. I'll keep youtube and my website updated when I have them ready.
