The idea of practically having a set amount of lockers that once you get spotted become your only salvation, but gets destroyed afterwards is one of the simplest, yet most adrenaline-fueling ideas I have seen in a while
I feel like horror games are common because they get an easy rise out of people AND they're relatively easy to make, since the majority of what the player sees is darkness, so there's less they need to make.
