Join me for my Citation II SIC type rating training recently in a 1990 Citation II at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport in Denver (KBJC). The SIC training involves a couple of hours of ground work, 3 full stop landings from the pattern, and a simulated engine failure. In the left seat is Captain Jack, a retired Continental captain who works for our organization as well. Enjoy!

Ahhhh, an old, "Steam gauge Citation." Nice job... remember, you can't log 100 hours in it until you've logged 10 hours in it... ten times. 'former CJ2+ driver'

Awesome videos, very cool to see you doing the pattern in a Citation. Ive been doing my training at Western Air at KBJC. Would be very cool to fly with you some day. Ive been putting together footage of all my lessons, I just need to get it edited and post it up on youtube but your channel is inspiration to get on it.

@@ColinPrenger I hope someday to fly a jet like that. I am a student pilot who is returning to flying after several years away due to a bad instructor experience. I wish I had RU-vid back then I may have been inspired I am 47 and know that I have a long road ahead, but I am working on it everyday and no longer letting anyone tell me I can not do something. Love this video it gives me hope.

@@kevinstone9638 Well I definitely won't be saying that. I've had many pilots come through my "door" who haven't flown in as much as 25 years and round gauges and I got them to where they wanted to be in flying and in full glass panels. Any questions whatsoever, shoot me a message 5point8management@gmail.com Blue skies and tailwinds, Kevin!

Thank you for great video. What is the departure airport ? Do you need to set Fuel Boost Pump on for engine starting ? As I noticed, fuel flow was set on at 19 percent N2, correct ?

Do you have any documents from your ground school before the flight? I should be starting SIC training in the C550 this month.

Sorry I don't. I haven't flown that plane in over a year now. Have fun!

How much harder is it to fly the jet vs the cirrus?
@ColinPrenger
@ColinPrenger 3 года назад
At first it’s a challenge because everything moves faster, checklists and your mind, but it’s in many ways easier to fly than a piston.

how much did this training for type rating cost roughly?
@ColinPrenger
@ColinPrenger 3 года назад
This was SIC only and did the required items and went to the FSDO for the sign off instead of formal training. Probably cost the owner $2000 all in.

If you owned this plane could you fly it by yourself with no co-pilot?
@bobbertonsmivelton7354
@bobbertonsmivelton7354 4 года назад
Yes, Cessna Citations only require a minimum of one pilot, and learjets have a minimum of two. But you'll need to get your license before though.

Depends on the model and equipment.

Hey Dr. Seidman, we are both doing well! My dad is still working in and out of the hospital as necessary. I’m flying the CJ2+ for JetLinx still and we are busier than ever! How’s your flying?

@@ColinPrenger great! Still flying the Mustang and CJ3+. not as much as I would like but still fairly busy. My day job keeps getting in the way! If you ever overnight in Detroit let me know and we can grab a meal. Say hi to your Dad

How much this training thanks
@ColinPrenger
@ColinPrenger 4 года назад
This was internal training, and the owner paid for the costs of the aircraft and us. Usually an SIC type at a place like Flight Safety is around $8,000 depending on aircraft type.
