Heidelberg dog and pony show, I ran the 2012 ten color perfector in Northern California, it was a good good machine when it ran, broke down every week, water pan sensor goes down and the press will not run. The perfector pump freezes up and locks down the machine. Nine years later this press is a lemon. Main oil line ruptured because they used a hot air line designed for air supply and fifty gallons of press oil all over the floor. I could go on but you get my point 😂
With regular oil level checks & (Mann) air filter replacement the Rietschle CLFG perfector vacuum pumps will run faultlessly for years but they are guaranteed to breakdown if ignored. The water pan sensors are a simple 2 minute temporary fix; from memory, cut the cable, strip & join the two black wires, fold the blue wire back & insulate. Once the new sensor arrives it simply plugs into the wiring loom. At any one time I had 12 Hiedelberg presses on-site of various ages but I have no memory or record of an oil line failure. I found that with regular preventative maintenance the Hiedelberg Speedmaster will outperform its competitors on both quality & quantity.
Ah yes, the famous Heidelberg “plant video” as I call them. But where is the manager who in the real world stands beside the coating unit barking at you about how long it’s taking to do bindery work on a printing press? (Their decision by the way) I can hear it now...” I can’t stall any longer! The client is here in the waiting room and wants to see a sheet damn it!” PS- Heidelberg shirts, spotless clean brand new machine, Hostman Stienberg ink, glass windows alongside the press all equal = Heidelberg showroom in Germany, not a real world experience. Sorry guys. You can’t fool me,...I ran these machines out in the real world! I know!
