Based on the previous 👉Citroën Dynam and with the necessary updates, the Citroën C8 was presented to us in France and Spain in 1970. It was also known as 👉Citroën Ami 8 or simply Citroën 8❗. Body details, brakes, suspension, as well as its interior were improved, making it more modern and attractive. Within its category it faced well-known competitors such as the Seat 850, Renault 8, Simca 1000 or the Authi Mini.
It is the same version that has just appeared in France, with its bodywork renewed by Robert Opron, with cleaner and more modern lines. The sedan and family models are produced (this one appears in 1971). The car, which has the same engine as the Dynam, comes with a stabilizer bar that prevents roll in tight corners, although at the cost of becoming understeer.
Among its weapons was its 602 cm3 twin-cylinder engine. Its foolproof robustness and excellent suspension made it ideal for moving around rural areas and as a delivery car, since the rear seat backrest could be folded down.
As a curious fact, in the "Tour of South America 1978 (the longest race in history 28,590 km), three Citroën Ami 8 Elysées started, unfortunately they did not reach the end of the race.
