I did today timing belt kit on my brother's Micra K10. It's a 1.2 8v, 05/1992, 5 door and 120tkm. One of the easiest timing jobs I've ever done. This was my socond time with that one. It was actually fun compared to modern cars I've done. 😀 Opel Kadett E 1.6 is pretty easy too, but those are very rare nowadays. 😁 My first car was an Opel Kadett E 1.6i '89 in 2010.

The new chassis is probably heavier from being thicker steel (not by much though!), galvanisation and protective paint applied on top, that and it's not rusted away like the old one... :P

10:48 it really looks like there isn't a straight line at the front of that chassis. You made the right decision to toss it.

Would have been a good time to get the new chassis hot dip galvanised so it never rusts out again or go over with galvanising paint which is a pretty robust preventative on thin tin plate chassis.

Hi from Germany, I really like your work and the attitude not to try to achive perfection! But what I want to highly recommend: please use the (or a) chassis when welding in the floor-pans….. The body is so soft (and warped) without the chassis, I would not risk it. And think about a little modification on the divers seat (and the front edge of the loading area) If you are taller than 175 cm you will hate to drive in any 2CV-camionette….. I'd like to know how you will handle the differences between the design of the old chassis and the new one that you have? I'm am facing the same issue, salvage an old one or renew.. The earlier cars have the outrigger that supports the outer edge of the earlier design bodies and also has the holes for the seats. The new one does not and it appears that your new chassis doesn't have these either....

The patina idea isn't at all new. Chris Harris (the automotive journalist) also has an old 2CV that is well patinated. And Hubnut's 2CV , well, that gets patinated as we speak! 😂 but to be fair, he uses his 2CV to a degree that he made long continental roadtrips in it. Which is awesome!
