The Citroën P28 is one of the most often ignored armored vehicles fielded by the French military in 1940. It was an obscure half-track armored car that only offered mediocre performances and was theoretically limited to a training and perhaps propaganda role at first. However, the vehicle did end up seeing very limited combat because of the general collapse of the French military, though most vehicles appear to have fallen into German hands unharmed. They were ignored by their new owners, who appear to have promptly sent them to be scrapped.
Nonetheless, the vehicle has some interesting elements. It serves as the first armored vehicle of Uruguay, which would then go on to become a regular customer of American light tanks, acquiring M3A1s and then M24 Chaffees. The P28 is also one of the last combat vehicles using the Kégresse track system, an innovation originating from a French engineer in Imperial Russia, and which was experimented on heavily by the French in the 1920s, but somewhat fell aside, at least for armored vehicles, in the following decades, mostly because of the typical fragility of Kégresse tracks.

2 man crew. A lovely idea from a bygone age. Commander doubling as gunner and loader, all while keeping the driver oriented. Oh And while maintaining situational awareness. With that said, it's aesthetically pleasing. Easy to park. Probably street licenseable. I'd buy one if the service plan was good. Fill that front roller with a decent wine . . . and wherever you go you will be welcomed by friend OR foe.

Fueron retenidos y "robados" por la aduana uruguaya en 1934, que tenía un gobierno filo-fascista, se reemplazó el cañón por una ametralladora browing 30mm y entró en servicio ese mismo año en la Guardia Metropolitana (un cuerpo militarizado de élite).

LindyBeige has a video about tankers in WWII who escaped an ambush by jumping their tank over a ditch/canal. Turns out the tank was a training tank, without true armor and that was what actually saved the crew, because it was faster and lighter than the official tanks.

Cromwell, wasn't it, it's a funny story, best part is that the crew didn't want to change tanks afterwards, they reckoned it would be bad luck, it had kept them alive so far lol

@@neilwilson5785 Well they could have used armored steel instead of mild steel and it would be enough to stop rifles at least. With the aforementioned 20mm and LMG, it would be serviceable but still pretty mediocre. there's no point in doing that though given there's better designs available.

Collapse of the French, Belgian and British militaries I think is fairer to say (Holland was after all declared neutral). These did soldier on I believe in the Vichy army, for what it was worth.

In the videos they are mentioned in yhe measurement for their respective country, so a US video would use yhe Imperial system, while a french vehicle would use the Metric. If you do want check, the actual written artivle behind this video which is found in the description provides both.

Actually the Polish army used the chassis of the Citroen-Kegresse B2 10CV with a Polish designed body (the wz.28 armoured car). however, due to issues with the Kegresse tracked suspension, they replaced the tracks with a wheeled axle. These were designated the wz.34.
